I know we are all in football mode but if I could just take a moment of your time to speak on the subject of basketball.
The 2012-13 schedule is out and there are some interesting games.
The Tide will return to Madison Square Garden. This time it is versus Oregon State in the 2K Sports Classic. The second 2KSC game will be against either Purdue or Villanova also in NYC. If the game is against Purdue, this will be the 4th straight year Alabama has played them.
Also on tap are some tough road games at Cincinnati, VCU and Texas Tech.
The home slate includes Charleston Southern, Lamar, Dayton, Mercer, Tulane, Oakland. Pretty boring I know but all finished with 20+ wins last season except CSU (19) and Tulane (13).
The SEC schedule is 18 games. The Eastern & Western Divisions are no more. Therefore, the Tide plays Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, and Tennessee twice each and everyone else only once including Ole Miss. Kentucky will travel to Tuscaloosa.

* Also in other hoops news, senior back-up guard Ben Eblen will forgo his final year of basketball eligibility to "concentrate on academics". He is on schedule to graduate from UA in December. This drops Bama down to 10 scholarshipped players. I suppose this makes Trevor Lacey the back-up PG when not playing the 2 but maybe this is a sign that redshirt freshman, Retin Ojomoh, is ready to step up.
* With Tony Mitchell gone, Trevor Lacey has reclaimed his high school number 5 (he was #3 this past season). Fab Frosh Devonta Pollard will wear number 24. Get your jersey orders in. B)
