Week 3 Sagarin Rankings (and what they project for the rest of the season)

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt12.htm

'Cuz I'm bored at work, let's look at the SEC rankings and then see what these rankings project for the rest of the year:

First, the SEC:

Alabama 105.00
LSU 95.26
South Carolina 88.49
Texas A&M 88.03
Florida 86.71 Georgia 81.81
Missouri 78.47
Mississippi State 77.68
Vanderbilt 74.20
Tennessee 72.93
Auburn 72.41
Arkansas 71.79
Mississippi 70.23
Kentucky 68.54

Some notes: Sagarin projects that Alabama is clearly better than every other team in the nation, and I'm choosing to agree with him out of blatant homerism. TAMU's above Florida, despite losing to them (possibly a result of TAMU only playing two games). The model unequivocally states UT was a flash in the pan (lulz). API is out of the dumpster fire and in the "slightly better than Arkansas" range (I say again, lulz).

Now the projections. For those of y'all unfamiliar with Sagarin, all you do to project a team is just compare the two numbers after adding 3 points to the home page. Using this week's number, it works out thusly:

SEC WEST

  1. Alabama (8-0)
  2. LSU (7-1)
  3. Texas A&M (5-3)
  4. Miss. St. (5-3)
  5. Arkansas (2-6)
  6. Ole Miss (1-7)
  7. API (1-7)

SEC EAST

  1. Florida (7-1)
  2. South Carolina (6-2)
  3. Georgia (6-2)
  4. Vanderbilt (4-4)
  5. Missouri (3-5)
  6. Tennessee (1-7)
  7. Kentucky (0-8)

SEC CHAMPIONSHIP: Alabama (-13) over Florida

Yes, this is rank speculation. Don't care. RTR
