OK first of all this new look sucks and I hope it dies like those fucking trees. I just spent an hour writing a post that got lost.
I want to hear y'all's thoughts on our SOS. Coming into the season we were looking pretty good with (AP) #8 Michigan, #3 LSU and #10 Arkansas on our schedule. Now, though, we have #3 LSU and #21 Mississippi State as our only tough opponents. This has me worrying. Prior to the season a one-loss ‘Bama would still look with two top 10 wins good but now there are other one-loss teams which would look better. And some of them are in our own conference.
In short:
With a perfect record
‘Bama would have beaten #3 and #21
LSU would have beaten #1, #6, #11 and #21
UGA would have beaten #6 and #11
SC would have beaten #3, #5, #11 and #17
Florida would have beaten #3, #4, #5 and #6
I can’t tell whether ‘Bama or UGA looks worse here
With one loss coming to the highest ranked opponent
‘Bama would have beaten #21
LSU would have beaten #6, #11 and #21
UGA would have beaten #11
SC would have beaten #5, #11 and #17
Florida would have beaten #4, #5 and #6
‘Bama clearly loses this one
With one loss coming to the lowest ranked opponent
‘Bama would have beaten #3
LSU would have beaten #1, #6 and #11
UGA would have beaten #6
SC would have beaten #3, #5 and #11
Florida would have beaten #3, #4 and #5
UGA loses this one with ‘Bama a close second
Now a victory over a possible top 2 SEC East champ in Atlanta would of course help us and rankings obviously change but the importance of winning every game has only increased. I expect Florida to drop three and SC to at least drop one. UGA might be undefeated. LSU showed signs of weakness against Auburn but they might run the table.
I do not see us going anywhere if we don’t win out – especially since one-loss teams from the Big 12 or *shudders* ND will have better résumés than us. That November 3 game is gonna make sure I don’t get a proper night of sleep for the next five weeks (not that I’m looking ahead, Coach).
Thoughts?
