Another Sunday at work, another FanPost of rank speculation steeped in homerism! Here's the link to Sagarin's newest rankings:
http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt12.htm
And follow me below the jump for reckless prognostication....
First, the rankings for SEC teams:
101.3 Alabama
92.79 Texas A&M (I think TAMU's playing better than their record, but #2 in the nation is a bit much)
90.84 South Carolina
90.52 Florida
88.29 LSU (lol Towson)
87.03 Georgia
80.32 Missouri
77.97 Mississippi State
75.45 Ole Miss
75.36 Auburn
75.32 Tennessee
69.82 Vanderbilt
67.54 Arkansas
67.23 Kentucky
And now, what that means for the SEC race:
SEC WEST
Alabama 8-0
Texas A&M 6-2
LSU 5-3
Mississippi State 4-4
Ole Miss 4-4
East Alabama Male College 2-6
Arkansas 1-7SEC EAST
Florida 8-0
Georgia 6-2
South Carolina 6-2
Missouri 3-5
Tennessee 2-6
Kentucky 1-7
Vanderbilt 0-8SEC CHAMPIONSHIP
Alabama (-11) over Florida
Just for fun, let's look at where the current national title contenders will end up:
91.87 Texas (12-0, Big 12 champ, currently #8 in BCS version of Sagarin rankings)
90.84 Oregon (13-0, Pac 12 champ, currently #9)
88.78 Florida State (13-0, ACC champ, currently #10)
87.59 Notre Dame (10-2, losses to Oklahoma and USC)
84.22 Kansas State (7-5, losses to WV, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, and Texas)
83.56 West Virginia (8-4, losses to Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma)
82.25 Ohio State (12-0, ineligible for postseason, Terry Bowden National Champions Pawwwwwwl)
We're left with 4 undefeated teams, but no one-loss teams in any of the BCS conferences (except maybe the Big East, but who cares). Once the crystal ball begins to get a little less fuzzy, we'll take a look at BCS bowl scenarios.
So, which of these projections is most ridiculous?
