Week 2 Sagarin Ratings (Spoiler Alert: Alabama Still #1, API Projected 3-9)

Sagarin's new college football rankings are up on the USA Today website, if you're curious:

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt12.htm

So, what does Sagarin think about the SEC?

Using his "PURE POINTS" method (which he argues is more accurate for projecting game results), here's the SEC rankings so far:

SEC WEST

Alabama (100.16)

LSU (95.2)

Mississippi State (78.36)

Texas A&M (76.23)

Arkansas (74.80)

Ole Miss (72.08)

East Alabama Male College (69.81)

SEC EAST

South Carolina (87.41)

Georgia (83.39)

Florida (78.96)

Tennessee (73.66)

Missouri (72.79)

Vanderbilt (72.45)

Kentucky (71.45)

Sagarin's method for projecting games is to compare the two teams after adding 3 points to the home team. Obviously, with only 2 weeks of data to work with, we've got some wiiiiiide error bars. But just for funsies, let's see how all this is projected to play out:

SEC WEST

Alabama (8-0, 12-0)*

LSU (7-1, 11-1)

Mississippi State (6-2, 10-2)

Texas A&M (4-4, 8-4)

Arkansas (3-5, 6-6)

Ole Miss (2-6, 5-7)

East Alabama Male College (0-8, 3-9)

SEC EAST

South Carolina (7-1, 11-1)* (tie-breaker: win over Georgia)

Georgia (7-1, 11-1)

Florida (5-3, 8-4)

Tennessee (2-6, 6-6)

Vanderbilt (2-6, 5-7)

Missouri (2-6, 4-8)

Kentucky (1-7, 4-8)

SEC CHAMPIONSHIP

Alabama over South Carolina

SEC BOWL GAMES

BCS National Championship: Alabama

Sugar: LSU

Capital One: South Carolina

Outback: Georgia

Cotton: Mississippi State

Chick-fil-A: Florida

Gator: Texas A&M

Liberty: Arkansas or Tennessee

Music City Bowl: Arkansas or Tennessee (per Wikipedia, "The Liberty Bowl and Music City Bowl work together, along with the SEC office, to determine the seventh and eighth picks.")

BBVA Compass Bowl: lol someone from the Sun Belt

Independence Bowl: not sure, maybe at large?

There you have it, folks. Based on ridiculously small sample sizes and dubious statistical principles, we can project that this season will go exactly the way we want it to. Hope for the best math to add up.
