I guess you could call this the Epic Fail Bowl: two undefeated teams seemingly on their way to a BCS Bowl Game. They are still going to play but they'll take it about 2300 miles west to Glendale, Arizona.
We all know the story but I need to get to 75 words: Texas A&M upsets #1 Alabama. All seems lost for the Tide faithful until a magically tragic November night. Within minutes of each other, Oregon goes down to Stanford and Kansas State faceplants at Baylor putting Alabama back in the driver's seat.
It's a tale of two programs. After several seasons of futility (last bowl win was in 2002), #5 Kansas State was having one of those seasons where everything finally comes together. Conversely, #4 Oregon is in the middle of a string of Top 10 finishes and conference titles but could never quite win the big one.
FYI, it is possible both these coaches leave after this game. Chip Kelly has the NCAA on campus and the NFL on speed dial. Bill Snyder is 73 and has to know with Collin Klein leaving it is the end of this small run.
