What's up everybody, I'm a longtime lurker who thoughtlessly posted something with several obscenities in it and got warned once (sorry 'bout that), but elsewise I have not posted.
I'm from Athens (Hunstville area), living in New Orleans currently. Didn't go to Bama, but have many friends who did. I was raised by the family on Bama football.... when you have Daniel Moore stuff hanging all over the house, well, I'm sure I don't need to continue.
But I will! Just a little backstory.... I'm 31. I was one of those sorta sensitive art school kids when I got to college, and during that era of my life my love for sports left me for awhile. It didn't help that we lost so much, but I take responsibility for being a weaker fan then than now.
Don't really have any Bama friends here, though I know they are everywhere.... and the food truck I work for parks at Rusty Nail (NOLA Bama HQ, for those who don't know) on Wednesday nights. Any fellow New Orleans peeps?
So I spent the summer falling in love, and this lady just bought us LSU/Bama tickets as my Christmas gift. She's not a proper, must watch every play type fan yet, but she's already bought us both t-shirts and now this. She still sides with her weird dog when she thinks my shouting at a game is frightening him. Anyhow, needless to say, I'm pretty excited. I haven't been to a Bama game in over a decade, believe it or not. And I've never been to one expected to be anywhere near this competitive. Dunno what Auburn was ranked in 96 when Riddle took it in for the win, but that was by far the biggest game I've been to. So I am ecstatic. And nervous....
Anyway, I'd love to show my girl around town a little, and unfortunately I haven't spent any time exploring Tuscaloosa as an adult. So that sucks for said purpose. And all the people I know who went to school there are long gone. Just kinda curious if people 'round here like to meet up "IRL". Or if anyone had any things about town in mind that they'd hold up and say "this is essential. Do this." I'm not a big drinker but I'm thinking we'll go to Egan's, since I've heard so much about it.
I know I'm new! But we're barrels of fun. Roll Tide!!!
