As expected, there has been some attrition in the Class of 2014. Offensive guard Viane Talamaivao decommitted from the Crimson Tide on Monday night and committed to Southern California.
The official word is that the Corona, California native wanted to play closer to home but it could also have something to do with TE/H-Back Tyler Luatua falling out of favor with the Tide. Luatua, Talamaivao, and 4-star OG Damien Mama have all become good friends and may want to play together at the next level. The three prospects all live in the Los Angeles area.
The firing of head coach Lane Kiffin could have something to do with the appeal of the Trojans as well.
It is unfortunate for Alabama to lose the 4-star guard but the recent addition of Josh Casher makes up for that loss. Alabama still has offensive lineman Casher, JC Hassenauer, Cameron Robinson, Ross Pierschbacher, Dominick Jackson, and Montel McBride in this class.
Alabama is still interested in St. Louis, MO tackle Brian Wallace (6-6 305) but he has yet to visit Tuscaloos.
We wish Talamaivao the best but let's let Andrew Bone sum it up:
The loss of Talamaivao will drop #Alabama to the No.1 recruiting class in the country.— Andrew Bone (@AndrewJBone) November 19, 2013
