McCarron Wins Maxwell Award for Collegiate Player of the Year

AJ McCarron took home the top award of the night at the Home Depot College Football Awards winning The Maxwell Award for collegiate player of the year. He beat out Johnny Manziel and Jameis Winston.

The Chuck Bednarik Award for the nation's best defensive player: Pittsburgh defensive tackle Aaron Donald took the award home over Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley and UCLA linebacker Anthony Barr were also finalists. Whatevs.

The Rimington Award, given to the nation's most outstanding collegiate center to Florida State center Bryan Stork over Reese Dismukes (Auburn), Hroniss Grasu (Oregon), Gabe Ikard (Oklahoma), Tyler Larsen (Utah State) and Travis Swanson (Arkansas).

The Ray Guy Award, given to the nation's best punter to Memphis punter Tom Hornsey. Drew Kaser (Texas A&M) and Cody Webster (Purdue) were also finalists for the award.

The Outland Trophy given to the nation's most outstanding interior lineman to Pittsburgh defensive tackle Aaron Donald (what is with all the Pitt players? Did Dan Marino and Tony Dorsett stuff the ballot boxes?). Donald beat out Texas A&M offensive tackle Jack Matthews and Baylor guard Cyril Richardson for the award.

The Davey O'Brien Award, given to the nation's best quarterback went to Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston over Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel and Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron.

The Jim Thorpe Award, given to the nation's best defensive back to Michigan State cornerback Darqueze Dennard over Lamarcus Joyner (Florida State) and Justin Gilbert (Oklahoma State) for the award.

The Lou Groza Award, given to the nation's best kicker to Florida State kicker Roberto Aguayo over Anthony Fera (Texas) and Marvin Kloss (USF).

The Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation's best wide receiver to Oregon State's Brandin Cooks over Clemson's Sammy Watkins and Texas A&M's Mike Evans.

The Doak Walker Award, given to the nation's best running back, was given to Andre Williams from Boston College over Ka'Deem Carey (Arizona) and Bishop Sankey (Washington).
