The freshmen led another Crimson Tide comeback as relief pitcher Mitch Greer (1-0) earned his first career win, throwing 2.0 innings, allowing no runs and one hit with a walk and four strikeouts. Sophomore lefty Justin Kamplain threw the final 2.1 innings to earn his second save of the season. Kamplain allowed one hit, a solo home run in the eighth, walked one and struck out three. Samford reliever Andrew Gracia (0-2) took the loss after throwing 0.1 innings, allowing an unearned run on two hits with a strikeout.

It was the highest round of the year for the Tide by 12 shots and left UA 13 shots behind Southern California and UCLA who tied for first at 4-over-par 580 (USC won the playoff). By RQS, Oklahoma moved up to the No. 1 spot, while previously top-ranked Florida dropped to second. Michigan remained in third and LSU overtook the UCLA Bruins to claim the fifth spot. The Tide will take on the No. 6 Bruins this Friday at home before closing out its regular season against the No. 1 Sooners March 15. In between, Alabama travels to No. 5 LSU.
The top-ranked Alabama softball team (16-0) will be continuing its homestand this week with six games in four days. The Tide starts with single games against Samford (6-6) on Wednesday, Feb. 27 and South Alabama (13-1) on Thursday, Feb. 28, before moving immediately into the Easton Classic on March 1-2. Iowa State (7-4) and St. John’s (3-7-1) will be participating in the 2013 Easton Classic.
