I am not sure what happened with the Houston Texans deal since their kicking situation is uncertain at best. Nonetheless, the Atlanta Falcons announced the signing of Jeremy Shelley this week on their website. Shelley is no stranger to the Georgia Dome having kicked there in the 2012 SEC Championship Game against Georgia.
He will be battling with incumbent kicker Matt Bryant. The 37-year old veteran has spent the past 4 seasons with the Falcons. In that time, he has yet to miss an extra point in 143 attempts and converted 88% of his field goals. He had 5 misses out of 38 attempts in 2012. One was a 22-yarder at Tampa. The other misses were from 48, 43, 43, 37 (Atlanta won all those games). However, he was 4 for 4 from 50+ yards and made a 49-yard game-winner against the Seattle Seahawks to send his team to the NFC Championship Game.
Shelley was the only FBS kicker to convert all of his kicks in 2012-13 going 11 for 11 in field goals and 69 for 69 in extra points.

In other Tide NFL news:
The Jacksonville Jaguars have acquired defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick off waivers from New England. The Patriots drafted him in the 7th round of the 2010 draft. He had 18 tackles, 1 sack, and 2 forced fumbles in 2012.
The Chiefs waived cornerback DeQuan Menzie after two seasons in Kansas City but he was quickly snapped up by Detroit Lions. He was a fifth-round pick of the Chiefs in the 2012 draft. He spent last season on injured reserve with a hip flexor injury. The Lions struggled with their secondary this past season, so Menzie will have a chance to see playing time in the Motor City.
