Golf Teams Play for Two National Championships

Roll Tide. - USA TODAY Sports

Roll Bama Roll checks in with the men and women's golf teams, as both chase a national title.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The following was prepared by our own 5026. All credit goes to him for keeping us abreast of the golf teams' exploits.

Ok, at RBR we don't talk much about the Bama golf program but we really should. Last year our women won the NCAA Championship while the men came in runner up. Now, one year later, we are once again poised for a possible run at two National Championships.

The Women's Team, which won their regional tournament a week ago, tees off to defend their crown on Tuesday May 21. The Women's Championship is being played in Athens GA on the UGA campus course. If you can possibly make it over to Athens this week I would highly encourage you to come out and support the defending National Champions as they try to go back to back. By the way, Alabama Women are ranked #2 behind USC, but location could favor the Tide.

The Men's Team rallied from behind Florida on Saturday and won their regional tournament as well. The men will now play for the championship May 28-June 2. Last year the men were playing in California but this year the NCAA Tourney is at the Capital City Club, the Crabapple Course, in Atlanta. Again, come out if you are in the Atlanta area. No doubt the next time you see some of our guys they will be on the PGA tour. By the way, Alabama Men are ranked #2 behind Cal, and again we are practically playing at home.

If you cannot come out both teams can be followed on twitter. The women are @AlabamaWGolf and the men are @AlabamaMGolf.
