Moore is also tied for the team lead with 12 doubles, he leads the team with four triples and is fourth on the squad with four home runs. Mikey White led the team with a .350 batting average during SEC play and finished the regular season with a .284 average, equaling Kyle Overstreet for the second best average on the team. Brett Booth and Austen Smith are tied for the team lead with six home runs and Kenny Roberts, who had a grand slam on Thursday night at Vanderbilt, has five home runs and is tied with Booth with 43 runs scored.

TUSCALOOSA | Mic Potter doesn’t discount the value that a 2012 national championship lends in terms of poise and experience, but as University of Alabama women’s golf team begins NCAA Championship play today, its coach said his team has otherwise left last year’s accomplishment behind.

"We wanted to try to make a statement," Hunt said. "I thought we did a really good job." Today’s superb offensive performance also had head coach Patrick Murphy excited about where the team is currently headed. "We always say we are going to save the best for last and peak at the right time and [today] was the best we have played all year," Murphy said.

Afterward, Head Coach Mike McCoy addressed the media and said how he was impressed by the rookies, who looked crisp and comfortable. In particular, McCoy singled out first-round draft choice D.J. Fluker, who he called a leader out on the practice field. Another player who impressed was Manti Te'o, who preached how hard work beats talent and discussed his intense work ethic.
