The Alabama Men's Golf Team is in the NCAA Championship Match for the second year in row. Playing today against Ga Tech, the host team, Alabama handled the Jackets with only minor problems. Today's semifinal was a match play format in which you play 5 on 5. You have to win 3 matches to advance. Bama won the first 3 matches to finish and the remaining two were thus discontinued, both of which were tied.
Thomas, Whitsett, and and Mullinax all had big days for Bama. Wyatt and Strohmeyer also played solid and took their matches in to overtime when the 3 point was recorded.
Tomorrow Alabama will attempt make amends for last years dramatic loss to Texas in the finals when we play Illinois. I had incorrectly stated that #1 Cal was out of the tournament yesterday. They were not, but in an overtime match Cal was eliminated today by Illinois.
The match tomorrow is scheduled to begin early at 8am due to possible bad weather. You can actually watch part of this match at http://www.ncaa.com/sports/golf-men/d1. For those of us who actually go to church there will be a replay or highlight video at the same sight.
And if you are in Atlanta and can come out a big crowd would really help. There were a lot of Alabama fans at the course today.
One more day guys and you will all feel better about what happened last year.
