So... this is bad. In case you've been living under a rock for the last few hours, you've likely heard that a Yahoo Sports article has broken with allegations that former tackle DJ Fluker received money and gifts from an agent while he was a player at Alabama.
The alleged improprieties took place during the 2012 season. I have no idea yet if the information cited is admissible, or if it definitively proves enough that DJ could be retroactively ruled ineligible for the 2012 season under Bylaw 12.3.1.2.
In layman's terms. This looks bad. Really bad. I didn't see anything there that would indicate that the University knew or should have known of the improprieties, so I think it is possible that the school could avoid major sanctions in the fallout, but this is still the kind of story that can bring an army of investigators to campus which can create problems in their own right.
It's early, yet, and there will be plenty more to come from this.
In the meantime, hope for the best.
