I was born in the great state of Alabama, but from a young age I have moved all over--South Carolina, a couple stints in Illinois, Arkansas and...though I hate to admit it, Tennessee. I've lived in Oklahoma for about fourteen years now, and it's in this time that my Bama fandom has really blossomed.
When I was as tall as a lawn chair or so, my dad told me--Bama or auburn, pick a team and stick with them. Well, as I like to say, I chose right. Now, about 30 years later, I am ashamed to admit that I have still never been to a game at Bryant-Denny. I've only been to two Bama games, in fact--last year's kickoff fiesta down at Jerry World, where my dad and I took in our first game together and afterwards sang Sweet Home Alabama at the top of our lungs with quite a few of our closest friends, and the 06 game in Fayetteville--which I shall speak of no further.
Anyhow, before this gets into tl;dr territory, I have always dreamt of catching a game at BDS with my dad. Tonight, I ordered tickets to see us play lsu on November 9th. My way of letting him know was a text (he's probably in bed already, and I figure it would make something good to wake up to) asking if he reckoned he could get us to Tuscaloosa that day.
My hope this makes up for my most awful childhood transgression, which involves my dad and Bama, which I will keep to myself until Friday the 13th. In any event, I'm freakin out, y'all.
