Per this report from ESPN, Bama has backed out of the home and home series with Michigan State. Reportedly it is because we are expecting the SEC schedule to extend to 9 games. If that is the case, I'm pissed. We should drop one of the FCS patsys we have been scheduling, not a competent team from a major conference. I'm sick of listening to criticism of SEC teams about us not playing quality competition or traveling outside of the southeast, and have really liked the last few years with so many quality match-ups (that we have generally won) but if this continues (other teams are following suit it seems) it will prove their criticisms correct. We are the best in college football. I plan on still being the best in 2016 and don't want this image of backing away from inferior competition.
I don't mind the cupcakes on the schedule, I think they are a needed part of today's football. But the one, marquee OOC opponent is more important. I can't believe Bama would forfeit such an opportunity to show its stuff on a national scale.
