I know a few folks have brought this up, but does anyone else feel like this is VERY NFL-ish? Saban has recruited several of the top QBs in the nation every single year. He even attracted a top tier walk on by most accounts. Despite the recruiting, building depth of 4 star talent at the qb position, many of them waiting in line, learning the system, etc...only to have Coker come in, be declared a starter...all under a very controversial (you must at least admit this much) OC.
I cannot imagine this being good for locker room morale. "Hey guys, y'all have been paying dues for years with your fellow teammates, buying into the process, getting to know each other, everyone here is very talented, so nice of y'all to wait your turn, etc." "And by the way here's this new guy who can actually help us win like none of you could."
NO ONE LIKES THAT GUY ON ANY TEAM EVER. Yes, I trust Saban. Yes, he's a genius. Yes, Coker has great blah blah blah. I've just never known a locker room to welcome in Mr. Kick-Ass when many dues have already been paid by a band of brothers (who also can at least kick a little ass or they wouldn't be there in the first place).
Just sayin'. Feels weird to me. I'll support him, Roll Tide, hope he's great. Still though. Odd.
