Something just doesn't sit right with me about CNS letting OC Nussmeier make a lateral move to Michigan so easily. While our offense could have done a few things better, this season was - from an offensive stand point - pretty damned good. And, CNS has said (can't find the quote so this is paraphrase) that he discourages his coaches from making lateral moves.
Also, we are faced with starting a new QB next year. Would this have not been a good reason to keep Nussmeier on board? From Maize and Blue:
A former NFL QB, Nussmeier also has earned a reputation as one of the country's best developers of quarterbacks. Among his proteges: Bama's AJ McCarron, Washington's Jake Locker and Keith Price and Michigan State's Drew Stanton and Jeff Smoker. Nussmeier also coached QBs for the St. Louis Rams in 2006-07 and helped Marc Bulger, a former sixth-round pick, make it to a Pro Bowl.
Were there other circumstances/conflicts that led to Coach Nussmeier's exit?
Can Lane Kiffin develop a quality QB from the undergrad candidates we have? Where has he proved this before?
