After committing to the Tide over the Seminoles of Florida State back in July, the four star safety went on to be a finalist for the state of Florida's Mr. Football award. In what has been a trend with prospects lately, Harrison signed financial aid papers in September. Today, he officially signed his letter of intent, binding him to the University of Alabama, and will enroll in January. That gives him the opportunity to participate in spring practices with Alabama and allows the rest of us TV watchers to get an early glimpse of him at the A-Day game.
The four star recruit is ranked by 247Sports' composite rankings as the 13th best safety in the nation, and also the 206th overall player.
At 6'2" 190, Harrison brings a big body to the safety position, and has also excelled in high school as a smart and athletic quarterback. He has also spent a good bit of time as a cornerback, and is a very physical specimen who could be effective in press scheme. That style of cornerback has become a trend in the NFL the last few years, and Harrison could fit the mold should Saban also want to follow that style.
I wrote a little more about Harrison and the other safeties a couple of months ago in this article previewing Alabama's 2015 class. Give it a click if you want.
