Alvin Kamara Arrested on Driving Charges

Former Alabama running back Alvin Kamara ran into a little trouble in his Atlanta suburb hometown of Norcorss.

From the Gwinnett Daily Post:

Kamara, 19, was arrested Thursday and charged with driving on a suspended license, no driver’s license, safety belts required and failure to appear. The standout running back spent about eight hours at the Gwinnett County jail before being released shortly after 3 a.m. Friday. He posted $1,824 bond.

According to a Gwinnett County police incident report, Kamara was driving on Jimmy Carter Boulevard near Holcomb Bridge Road at about 6:10 p.m. Thursday when an officer spotted him "with no seat belt in use." A traffic stop was initiated and, when asked for his driver’s license, Kamara reportedly admitted he didn’t have one.

"He stated he was driving because he was going to do laundry," the report said. "The car was a rental car that he stated his mother knew he was operating."

The responding officer soon learned that Kamara did have a learner’s permit, which would have allowed him to be behind the wheel alongside a licensed driver over 21 years old.

If it hadn’t been suspended.

According to the report, Kamara’s learner’s permit was under "an active suspension for failure to appear" and had been suspended since Dec. 17. The violation which Kamara allegedly did not attend court to address occurred on May 15 of last year. The nature of that violation was not specified.

It seems like a minor incident and should not hurt his chances of transferring.
