Bama took on 16th ranked Kentucky tonight, a team leading the nation in batting average, doubles and runs coming into the weekend, and a 14-4 record. Bama came in with a 10-5 record and a five game winning streak. Spencer Turnbull pitched agains A J Reed for the Cats. Both teams only got four hits, but Bama got a home run and RBI single from freshmen catcher Will Haynie and won the game 3-0. Wade Wass and Casey Hughston both doubled, as 3 of 4 to the Tides hits were for extra bases. Turnbull worked out of two bases loaded situations, highlighted by a triple play turned in the sixth when the bases were loaded with no outs. Mikey White snared a line drive, flipped to Kyle Overstreet at second, who threw to Chance Vincent at third to end the threat. Ben Moore robbed Reed of a home run with a leaping catch at the fence. A great win for the Tide, and their will be a double header starting at 1230 on Saturday, because of weather concerns on Sunday. Justin Kamplain and Jonathan Keller will pitch the two games for Bama.
