Garcia

God I love Steven Garcia. It'll be the end of an era when his nineteen years of eligibility have come to an end. The guy shows up drunk to a life-skills meeting on campus. How Garcia-esque? Of course, in all fairness, some would argue drinking is one of the most important and enjoyable life skills, so perhaps he was just trying to lead by example. All we need now is for him to get on Twitter and start talking about winning.

First Scrimmage Aftermath Brings Demotions

As spring practice hits the homestretch, let it never be said that spring scrimmages are meaningless affairs. Per Cecil Hurt: [Nick] Saban: "Some guys got demoted" after last Saturday's scrimmage...

"This is my fifth season," Gibson said. "Just the knowledge of the offense and just knowing the game right now is a big strength for me. Just being around these guys a long time has been great for me. I look forward to what we're going to have this year." Gibson is expected to compete for increased playing time, and said he tries to make himself useful whenever he has the chance, such as special teams. Gibson takes a lot of pride in being on the unit, especially since he scored his first touchdown on special teams.

Izzy Gould: Alabama football receiver Brandon Gibson battling for playing time Feels like this guy has been around since the Perkins era, but he's a senior now and he has an opportunity for meaningful playing time at this point. With the lack of size at wide receiver, Gibson is one of the bigger guys on the roster, and one of the few who can add some legitimate size to the wide receiver corps.

Mark Gottfried to NC State

Matt: Wow. Did not see this one coming. You have to wonder how Wolfpack fans are taking this one. Nothing for us Bama fans to do besides wish a former player and coach the best of luck, regardless of how the last few years of his coaching tenure in Tuscaloosa played out. He had success at Murray State and for the most part in his first eight seasons at Alabama, so it's not impossible for him to be successful in Raleigh, especially if he surrounds himself with the right assistants.

For those who missed it, here is the segment on Coach Grant, along with Florida coach Billy Donovan and former Arkansas coach John Pelphrey, that CBS featured this weekend prior to its Final Four coverage. The story was first reported by Yahoo Sports' Jason King back in January, and was later posted here at RBR. Sad stuff.
