NCAA TO PUNISH ALABAMA RETROACTIVELY FOR "DISTASTEFUL POSTGAME CELEBRATIONS."

Spencer skewers the NCAA's proposed rule change concerning "excessive celebration" using the Rammer Jammer. And, in a somewhat related incident, a Vol fan somewhere is cursing Terrence Cody once again, wrongly natch.

Anyone who saw Leigh Tiffin walk onto the field in overtime on Sept. 23, 2006, to kick an extra point was thinking one of two things. Either: Certainly he can't miss this one. Or: Mike Shula is insane.

From that inauspicious beginning, Tiffin went on to become one of the best kickers in SEC history. Team Speed Kills looks back at Tiffin's legacy as part of their ongoing series on seniors leaving the SEC.

The University of Central Florida's football program was placed on two years' probation today for recruiting violations that involved current University of Alabama director of player personnel Ed Marynowitz, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel.

The story goes on to say that UA was unaware of this before Marynowitz's hiring and that they took "immediate action" to investigate and that "no call or text violations" have been recorded in his current role. I wonder what Saban thinks of this? OTS: I'll be honest, I don't like this one bit. I don't know when the next train is leaving Tuscaloosa, but this guy needs to be on it.

SEC Football Coaches: The Best and the Worst

+

The SEC has the greatest coaches of any conference bar none, what other conference could boast having four coaches who combined have won six BCS National Championships? (1) Nick Saban, Alabama Crimson Tide: In just three years Nick Saban has led Alabama back to the top. He took a very average team just emerging from NCAA sanctions and led them to Alabama's first 14-0 season and their 13th National Championship. Saban performed the same magic at LSU in 2003. Alabama has not lost a regular season game in over two years under Saban and will go into the 2010 season as the favorite to return to Atlanta and possibly return to the BCS Title Game. Nick Saban became the first coach in the modern era to lead two schools to a national championship (LSU and Alabama) and is now has Alabama in position to do it all again in 2010. Saban has just landed his third Top five recruiting class at Alabama, which leads many to think that Alabama is just getting started. Saban has won two BCS National Championships, three SEC Championships, and five SEC Western Titles. Click Link Above For More.....

SEC breakout players for 2010 1. Alabama defensive end Marcell Dareus: Several in and around Alabama’s program think Dareus will be the next great defensive lineman for the Crimson Tide. He certainly made his presence felt in the BCS National Championship Game in January when he was named the game’s Defensive MVP after returning an interception 28 yards for a touchdown and knocking Texas quarterback Colt McCoy out of the game. Dareus only started in four games last season, but he still wound up with 9.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. Look for those numbers to soar in 2010, and look for him to emerge as one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the league. Chris Low breaks down his picks for the SEC breakout players for 2010. Dareus is turning out to be a real gem of his class. We can concede that we might lose him after next season, but as Saban continues to reload big uglies on the D-Line, good things will continue in T(itle)-Town.

[Purdue]'s principal claim to fame now is being the alma mater of three Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks (Len Dawson, Bob Griese and [Drew] Brees), a total matched only by Alabama (Bart Starr, Joe Namath and Ken Stabler).

This is one of the senior tapes floating around of 2010 'Bama signee Adrian Hubbard. I know he was a late bloomer on the recruiting trails, but it's easy to see why his stock took off and how he backed it up with a dominating performance in Orlando. He's still raw and still needs to get stronger at the point of attack, but clearly has great length and he has unreal athleticism given his frame. You won't find many 6'7 guys who can move like he can, that's for sure. Also, judging by the tape I've seen of him, effort won't be a problem...
