Programming Notes: Real Life, etc.
Since UAB has apparently decided to schedule all of their week night home games on Wednesday, it's really throwing a wrench into the RBR Radio Hour(ish)'s scheduling. Also, OTS is in the middle of finals and is chained to a library table for the next few days, so he has that going for him, which is nice. We'll resume broadcasting tomorrow night with the most ridiculously unorganized and off topic show yet (that's your cue to call in, Finebaum Caller Impersonators), so for tonight, keep it tender.

Shilling for a Good Cause
Normally we only promote things around here to get free stuff, but this is a good cause and the man who is promoting it, Bob Ibach, is also the guy responsible for a lot of the promotions for the Maple Street Press books (including our very own Yea Alabama) and the man who got me on WJOX, so even if it wasn't worthwhile we would still probably kind of owe him. Thankfully, though, this is worthwhile:
There hasn’t been this much excitement and optimism around the program since the Tide won its 12th national title in 1992. All of this renewed optimism is bringing some smiles at the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Georgia and Alabama with the announcement today of a special program to raise funds for many youngsters who have life-threatening medical conditions and who look to their local Make-A-Wish Foundation for support to grant them wishes.
Nikco Sports will produce a limited edition, full-sized football (just 2,009 will be made) to celebrate Alabama’s turnaround season and upcoming bowl game on January 2 against undefeated Utah (12-0) in the Louisiana Superdome, the 56th bowl appearance in Alabama history and 2nd BCS bowl game. These footballs are priced at $69.95 each. In recent years, Nikco Sports has raised close to $1.7 million for children’s charities and other special endeavors.
Fans can order the footballs while the supply lasts by calling 1-800-345-2868 or visiting www.nikcosports.com. Each football comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
The football will feature two distinct and attractive white panels, each one full of historic and important information. These will not be sold elsewhere, making it a "must-have" for any diehard Bama fan, something that can be displayed proudly at home, in an office or used as a fundraising gift at golf events or silent auctions.
Fans can also download a special holiday gift flyer right off the Nikco Sports website to use for the upcoming holiday season.
You can get more information about the ball at their website, and here is what it will look like:

Programming Note(s): I'm Heartbroken, But I'm Still Loc'd
Okay, so I spent most of yesterday afternoon moping over the loss, but time moves on and there's that whole 24 hour rule thing as well. Running Back Success Rates and BlogPoll Ballot up tomorrow, and be sure to tune in to the RBR Radio Hour(ish) for my heart rending solo rendition of Creed's "Higher." It will be horrible.
...though, funnily enough, not as horrible as the original...

Programming Note: Real Life, etc.
Two things:
1) The RBR Radio Hour(ish) is postponed 'til Thursday because of real life interruptions (the UAB Basketball Home Opener for me, and fighting crime for OTS). Adjust your schedule accordingly.
2) We're moving it over to TalkShoe because NowLive? She no worka so good. So head over there between now and then and set up an account so we'll know who you are in the chat.
3) For no apparent reason:

Gobble Gobble Open Thread: What are You Thankful For?
Personally, I have parents that love me and a wonderful girlfriend so that's pretty nice. And, to be flippant, there's that whole 11-0 thing. We'll be back tomorrow with thoughts on the Iron Bowl. 'Til then, party like the Pilgrims.

Submit Your Questions for "Hey Todd"?
Honestly, still not feeling all that well and I don't have a voice to speak of, so probably not a very good chance the RBR Radio Hour(ish) will be on tonight. I'll likely spend that time either working on a preview of Arkansas State or watching TV, whichever proves to be more interesting and/or western-y.

Does John Wayne play for the Red Wolves?

Real life, she intrudes...
* My Friday Embarassing Admission
* The briefest of brief explanations on the final three teams on whose bandwagons I am firmly aboard.
* Assorted YouTubetry and other foolishness that you've come to love and expect on a typical RBR friday. In the meantime, rejoice my children, for the end of the long dark winter that is the offseason is only 8 1/2 hours away.

Should RBR Take to the (Internet) Airwaves?
![]() The dulcet tones of RBR keep me warm inside! |
I've been playing with NowLive the last few days in order to start doing podcasts with other bloggers for the SEC previews (which is what I was hinting at yesterday), and since it is, after all, an internet radio tool I thought I'd put it to you guys on whether or not an actual RBR radio show would be something y'all would be interested in. I've got bloggers lined up for LSU, Tennessee, and Auburn so far, but was generally just going to fly solo for at least Arkansas and Ole Miss (not really a lot we can say about them due to the staff changes) and possibly the rest, but while I'm doing it if you guys would want to call in and chat it could be a fun little experiment. So we'll put it to a vote, and if there's an overwhelming interest we'll start one up right away.
