Today's Unnamed Source Report

We have it on good authority from our well placed sources in Tuscaloosa that AD Moore has serveral candidates at the top of his list.  We firmly believe that negotiations with Tulsa head coach Steve Kragthorpe are under way, and that there is still an outside possibility that Steve Spurrier is a viable candidate.

Below is a transcript of our discussion with a source close to the university that wishes to remain anonymous:

Star-divide

Roll Bama Roll:  Thank you for sharing this information with us.  Can you tell us how it came into your possession?

Unnamed Source:  Well, I was here at the [REDACTED], when I saw a grey hairded fella pull in.  He looked right sharp and was driving one of them fancy new cars with all the bells and whistles.  I don't much care for such things, my old Buick gets me around just fine, but it seemed like a fine automobile and I was real surprised when he put in the cheap stuff.  I know gas being what it is and all lots of folks use it, but I reckoned a fella that could buy such a fine automobile could also buy the good gas.  But that's none of my business so I didn't say nothing to him.

RBR:  Is it safe to assume that this "gray hairded fella" was Alabama AD Mal Moore?

US:  Oh, I don't know, I didn't know him from Adam.  I've seen this Mal Moore fella on the TV from time to time, but ever since they run off that nice Stallings boy I ain't been too keen on keeping up with all the goings on over at the university.  Martha, she reads the papers and keeps up with it, but I just try to watch the games on Saturday and not get too worked up over it.  Dr. Barton told me I needed to watch my diet and keep away from too much stress since that last string of dizzy spells, so I keep away from those things.

RBR:  From your best guess, though, would you say it was AD Moore?

US: My memory ain't what it used to be, but it seems to me there was an Alabama tag on the car.  I suppose it could have been.

RBR:  What was AD Moore doing while he pumped his gas?

US:  At first it looked like he was talking to himself, kinda crazy like, but then I seen one of those little plastic things sticking out of his ear, like a hearing aid, and I thought he might have been talking into it.

RBR:  Was it a bluetooth headset?

US:  No sir, his teeth were pearly white, whatever else you can say about the fella you can say he sure took care of his choppers, that's for sure.  I've been sporting store boughts for years now, so I've learned to appreciate a man that takes good care of his own God givens.

RBR:  What was he talking about?

US:  I tend to mind my own when folks is talking around me, but since it was a slow day at the [REDACTED] it was hard to not catch some of his conversation.  Seemed he was going on and on about what "Steve" wanted and making sure he got it right this time, something about a "fiasco" last time and he didn't want to go through that again.

RBR:  Did he happen to mention "Steve's" last name?

US:  No sir, he just kept on about him coming to visit and bringing the family and trying to find the right presents for the kids.

RBR:  So is it reasonable to assume that AD Moore is in serious negotiations with a coaching candidate named Steve, possibly Kragthorpe or even Spurrier?

US:  Oh, I don't really know such things.

RBR:  Well thank you very much for your time.

US:  Any time, young man.  That'll be $35.12 for the fill up.

Head Coaching Position
Food for Thought and for whatever it is worth.
Some have mentioned Hoover High School coach Rush Probst. If you are going to think about a high school coach, what about Buzz Busby. He is probably one of the only coaches in the nation to win a state championship in 2 states. He has had a winning program wherever he has gone. This guy knows football. He won a state championship while at Central High in Tuscaloosa, came to Statesboro,Georgia(Statesboro High)and carried his teams to the state each year, and won a state championship. To hear him talk he even has the gruff voice of a "Bear" Bryant. He needs to be considered. Trust me this guy knows football in and out and would be a great candidate.
If not him as I have stated before, Paul Johnson of Navy.(Also coached in Statesboro, GA at Georgia Southern a Div. I-AA powerhouse). Some say he cannot make it in the SEC by running the triple option. Hey, it has worked wherever he has been. The triple option is a modified wishbone that Alabama ran in it's glory days. Think about it folks!

We're not looking for a HS coach...
...but Probst has been named as a candidate for the UAB job.  Paul Johnson doesn't only run the triple option, he just runs that at Navy because it's the best possible system with the talent available.  I wouldn't be sad if we got Johnson, but I think Kragthorpe is the best fit now.

The new T-shirt:
Got Krags?

Really -- I would shit myself to always be talking about a guy that I would have to reference as "Coach Krag." It seems like some awful Star Trek reference. Or one of the aliens from The Simpsons, eg. "You blew that coverage -- now I will devour your brain."

More on Head Coach
A post by Prebear fron tidesports.com states:"We've got to get over that "beat Auburn at all costs" mentality, though no one wants it more than me, however with the new NCAA regulations (limited scholarships, etc.) this season has shown that there is indeed parity in the SEC as never before; Auburn will never again be the whipping boy of the Tide, nor anyone else for that matter. The entire Alabama football program is suffering because Tuberville got one for the thumb. We were in every game this year and should have won at least three more and could have won them all, the kicking game halted our progress and then the offensive play calling went south. Get us a coach and soon and bear in mind that the days of Bear Bryant are done and will never be back again, there's simply been too many changes by the NCAA for someone to dominate the way he did."
At this point Alabama is going to be lucky to get a P.E. teacher from an elementary school to come and coach. When you have one of your very own that has a 10 - 2 record last year, wins his bowl game, renew his contract and you fire him the next year, then how do you expect anyone to jump at this great position. Look all over the internet at the articles sports writers are writing about the job. Names are coming up, and coaches are replying by "I am not interested in the Alabama job" It has been the Alabama faithful that has made the job so miserable by putting the coaches in a fishbowl or pressure cooker to win win win. Alabama has become the laughing stock of college football. No matter who Alabama hires for the job, not everyone is going to be happy. Stop putting so much pressure on the head coach and let him do his job. Shula should have not been fired in the first place.

nobody gave shula any grief.  hell, he went 4-9 and 6-6 and everyone said "no problem.'  we stayed out of his way and he hung himself.

Here's your break
Here's your break. We'll try to leave the freaks out. Yep, Shula hung himself alright to the sweet rune of 4 Million dollars. Hmmm... I think that equates to about $68,000 a month for the next 4 years, maybe longer...you do the math. (No need to look for another job anytime soon Mikey). Judas hung himself over 30 pieces of silver. Go figure.
