2008 Football Schedule Announced

Update [2008-1-4 21:7:25 by Todd]:

THE 2008 SCHEDULE IS FINALLY CONFIRMED. GO HERE to see who the Tide will be playing in '08.

Update [2007-11-28 20:26:34 by Todd]:

Since we seem to be getting a lot of hits on this post, we need to clarify that this schedule is NO LONGER accurate. The UTEP game has been cancelled, and we are currently in talks with Clemson to play an opening weekend game at a neutral site (Atlanta's Georgia Dome, most likely) to replace that game. If that happens, then the Western Kentucky game will be rescheduled for later in the season. So, as of right now, there is no official 2008 schedule for the Crimson Tide. Sorry.

Update [2008-1-2 12:2:8 by Todd]:

Looks like a lot of people are really looking forward to next season. Since this post continues to get a lot of hits from folks searching for the '08 schedule, we need to clarify another thing. Northern Illinois has been dropped and replaced with Arkansas State. Again, the schedule below is IN NO WAY official. As soon as an actual schedule is announced, we'll post it.

The 2007 Tide Pride notice came in the mail today and with it came a copy of the 2007 & 2008 schedules. Let's just say the out of conference schedule for 2008 is...ummm...disappointing. Here's the full schedule:

08/30 Western Kentucky OR Clemson
09/06 Tulane
09/20 at Arkansas
09/27 at Georgia
10/04 Kentucky
10/11 UTEP (Western Kentucky?)
10/18 Ole Miss
10/25 at Tennessee
11/01 Northern Illinois Arkansas State
11/08 Mississippi State
11/15 at LSU
11/29 Auburn

A bye week after the second game and another before the Auburn game.

Chime in with your thoughts below.

at least 9 wins for Rod
It is a better schedule than this season, but still not that great. At least I've heard of these non-conference teams.

Looks decent
It does at least look decent.  No Illinois and UTEP should be alright.  Tulane will be hiring a new coach, so nobody knows what's up with them, and Western Kentucky...well...yeah.

As far as the bye weeks go...hell yeah.  I've missed bye weeks.

who does the scheduling
this is the kind of schedule that leaves you in 2nd or 3rd or worse place in the bcs at the end of the season and it doesnt matter who is coaching i will be glad when we start scheduling some real games out of conference yes i know about fsu

patience
This should at least give our new coach a chance to get his feet wet. Who knows what some of these teams will have in a couple of years. 6 of the 8 sec games are bowl teams this year. And I know everyone remembers No Illinois from a few of years ago. Let's get us a coach first and then worry about who we play.

Wow
What a kick in the nuts.  While a lot can change between 08 and now, there's nothing on the home slate that generates even slight excitement barring Price still being at UTEP or the Orgeron having Ole Miss on the come up.  I know teh SEC rulz!!1! but is it really that much to ask to schedule 1 OOC game against top flight or even mid-tier BCS competition every year??  Seems like we had a good thing going with the OU home and home a few years back.  Sigh

MAL MOORE IS AN IDIOT
He has proven to insufficient in so many ways.  This schedule is a complete joke.  I am becoming so embarassed to be a bama fan.  This schedule combined with the RR situation is just a complete blowup by our administration.
I wouldn't piss off the boys from Alabama . . .
