LSU 41, Alabama 34

Oh well, what can I say? I could complain about the replay officials, but we really shouldn't have even been in that game. LSU is a good football team, and once again they did what good football teams do, pull themselves out of a whole by executing and simply beating the other man. My hat is off to them, and hopefully they will represent the SEC in the national title game. More tomorrow.

F*ck that
We had a legitimate shot at winning and we would have put the game away with a TD or field goal with that reversed call.  Jesus, you are right in that we should not have been in the game, but we were screwed at every turn and every big play thanks to the crap officiating.  It would have been one thing if it was one or two calls, but it was EVERY big play we had....

But we're not Ole Miss fans...
...yeah, Caddell's catch shouldn't have been overturned, and that was a fumble that we should have had, but the replay officials didn't make JPW fumble the ball, or allow LSU to put consistent pressure on him on third down. We've got a good team that can win out, but we didn't have the better team tonight. If we had, those two calls wouldn't have been important, because we would have moved the ball well enough to seal the deal without them, or would have stopped LSU on that fourth and four instead of letting them get a TD. Blaming the officials is easy, but we can't do anything about it, so we need to have a little class about it and start looking forward to next weekend.

Right on Todd
That one hurt.  A lot.  But the last thing I want to hear is a bunch of moaning about officials.  I'll be avoiding talk radio this week for that very reason.  There's little that turns my stomach more than bitter Bama fans making excuses.

LSU is the better team.  No doubt about it.  Bama played their butts off but it wasn't enough.  I wish it had been.

Hello alcohol.  Whatcha knowin'?  I just came to feel your numbness flowin.'

Not a bitter Bama fan, just making a point
Certainly we worked hard to hang around in a game that most people thought would get ugly.  My point is that the reversed call was BS and you guys know it.  So consider your stomach unturned.

And no "Ole Miss fans" here.  A few hours later, it's out of my system.  We will not be talking about these issues come Friday, as Ole Miss did.  But anyone who saw that game, LSU fan or Bama fan, cannot point out the absurdity of all these overturned calls.  Hell, even the idiot announcer Gary Daniels figured out how ridiculous it was..

It Hurts But...
The calls were what they were.  Let's not turn into "Poor Ol' Miss" fans--game's over, and LSU won.  We'll get 'em next time, and Bama is back!

Can you just face the fact that it was a great game but the Tigers won it in the end?

I've called my friend the cardiologist
I may need his services after that game. I didn't know what to expect giving Bama 2 weeks to prepare - now they'll begin preparing for next year. I don;t know if LSU just executed when they had to wake up, or if they just got lucky. But, sometimes I'd rather be lucky than good.

wow..
The stadium went from the loudest I have ever heard it to completely silent after one play.  It was heartbreaking.

by rolltidempd3 on Nov 3, 2007 10:34 PM CDT reply actions

LSU got away with one tonight.
And they know it. Their fans know it.  And I hope that they enjoy it, because it's sure not going to get any easier for them in the years to come.

So close - I really think had we been able to stop on that 4th & 4 the game would have been over.  Kudos to the team - they played their hearts out and with great composure, which is more than I can say for LSU.

LSU won!!
LSU won the damn game!!! Didi the officials give us the last 2 touchdowns?  You Bama fans are are the worst. Just accept the fact that you get beat in your own house by a better team.

by ganttenator on Nov 4, 2007 1:39 PM CST up reply actions

Let me ask you something, champ.
If we "Bama fans are the worst", why then have you felt it necessary to come to a Crimson Tide blog the day after a very emotional defeat? Does it make you feel like more of a man to kick folks while they're down - on the internet?

You are clearly demonstrating the classlessness I mentioned in a post in another thread here. Classless coach ("f**king Alabama"), classless team (How many 15-yard penalties yesterday?), classless fans.

Like I said yesterday, I'd have expected more from the great state of Louisiana. I reckon I was wrong to do so.

See you next year, chump.

In all football seasons...
in 12 games there will be games that are very close. If you think because you played LSU close this year, it means Bama will beat LSU for years to come, you are misled. LSU, playing Bama, has won the last 5, & 7 out of the last 8. LSU also has had top ten & top 5 recruiting classes the last 3 years. Any recruiting analyst will tell you when you get in the top ten recruiting, the talent level is really too close to call. Les Miles is a great coach, 30-5 so far at LSU, back to back 11 win seasons, back to back top 5 BCS finishes. I really like Saban, he is total class and he will build Bama into a great program again (I hate Auburn too), but I think Bama will never dominate LSU. Heck, Saban has never even beaten LSU (at Michigan State & Bama). Next year you come to Tiger Stadium. Good luck the rest of the way. BTW neither side was happy with the officiating last night. I am sorry if some Bama fans had bad experiences with Tiger fans, but we all have our morons:).

I think you misunderstood my point....
...I never said the Tide would "beat LSU for years to come."  I said a victory over us won't come any easier for LSU than it would this year.  I certainly recognize that LSU has recruited well under Miles, but our recruiting has improved as well, and that actually started with Shula's last class (2006) - they were ranked #11 by Rivals.com and Saban's first class was ranked #10.  Currently Rivals ranks the Tide's class #3 in the country.  So the talent level in Tuscaloosa is definitely coming around, and we should be on more of an even footing in the years to come.

by Dignan on Nov 4, 2007 6:28 PM CST up reply actions

the game stunk
I had an 8 year old kid come up to me and start talking smack. I wanted to ask if he needed new diapers, but I was too down about the loss. THAT'S how bad of a day I had.

by StuBone on Nov 4, 2007 1:03 AM CDT reply actions

Two things were clear in the game
  1.  LSU has better players.
  2.  Alabama has a better coach.

by jt666 on Nov 4, 2007 8:57 AM CST reply actions

there's no doubt
that if Cadell's catch is left as called (meaning a  40+ yard reception, because it OBVIOUSLY WAS A CATCH) then we either would have had a three to seven point lead. That said, I dont think JPW would have been in the shotgun with 4 wideouts with two minutes left. Yes, LSU made the play at the end, and yes the refs did get THAT replay call correct (they had a chance for the hat trick and fucked it up)...

I think it was clear who the better coached team was (penalties, turnovers, trick plays backfiring etc) and I cant wait to kick the shit out of LSU for many years to come. Once Miles losses this current crop of starters, his talent level is going to drop off. By next season we should be ready to reverse the trend in this series and return to dominating LSU, year in and year out, once again.

by tempebamafan on Nov 4, 2007 9:57 AM CST reply actions

better coached team
yeah the better coached team was the one who won.  LSU maintained their composure during that whole game.  They didn't let the hair trigger penalities that were called on them or the turnovers ever let them think they were out of this game.  Yes we will lose a good crop of starters really soon, but I do believe the guy that caused the fumble at the end of the game was none other then Chad Jones.  Wait the same guy who sacked JPW at the beginning of the game.  Guess what he's a true freshmen recruited by none of then Les Miles himself.
It was definitely a great game.  LSU never plays great on the road and Tuscaloosa is almost as tough of a place to play as Death Valley.  As always SEC teams showed their toughness in a great game.

by tigersgeaux on Nov 4, 2007 12:18 PM CST up reply actions

Umm, I am pretty sure the best coached team
lost.  Did you seriously think LSU was greatly coached with all those penalties, turnovers, and overall lack of discipline?

Enjoy it, LSU, once we close the talent gap a tad more, your days are over.  As are Auburn's.  The great '07 LSU almost got beat by a ragtag group of SHULA's players!!  Roll Tide anyday, and Tigers BLEAUX!

better coach
ok.....yeah i'm sure you'll get us next year.  This year made it 5 in a row next year at Death Valley will make it 6 in a row.  Yeah and even with the penalties and turnover LSU maintained enough poise to come ahead in the end.  Geaux Tigers!!!!

by tigersgeaux on Nov 4, 2007 12:36 PM CST up reply actions

Whatever makes you feel better, buddy
Ask yourself this question: Which team was better coached and better disciplined?  If you say LSU, then look at your crybabies Hester and Dorsey.  Sure, Hester is a fantastic, old school RB and I have always respected him.  But his outburst against Rasheed after the interception that caused the personal foul was ridiculous and uncalled for.  The same with Herman Johnson whining and taking his helmet off.  While your coach was celebrating with the fans, our coach and team were meeting and greeting at midfield, shaking hands and such.

Had we held on and won, you and those like you would have been calling for Saban's head.

And, sure, you have 5 in a row. Who hasn't with our problems the past year.  Let's review: Bama's worst ten years EVER during LSU and Auburn's best EVER.  I know one thing, champ, I would rather be on our side looking up than your side on the way down.  Enjoy this year, because when Miles bolts and you guys end up with another dinardo, you will be back to middle of the pack where you have and always have belonged.

Fact:
12 is greater than 2
Saban is greater than Miles
Bama class is greater than LSU "class"
Bama is, and always will be, greater than LSWHO?

"FAILURE" - When your best just isn't good enough

by BamaReturns07 on Nov 4, 2007 5:13 PM CST up reply actions

coach
If your coach saban is so wonderful then why couldn't he take advantage of the penalties and the 3 turnovers made by LSU?  Why because even though we had the penalties and turnover we still outplayed you when it mattered.  Crybabies hester and dorsey.  I guess you believe that when Hester was on the Bama sideline that nothing was said to him when all those Bama football players were in his face.  Dorsey why is Dorsey a crybaby?  He is one of the best Defensive players ever.
And as far as celebrating Coach Miles went to the middle of the field and shook your coaches hand just like the rest of our players did.  If Bama would have won not only would your team have been celebrating, but your fans would have probably stormed the field.  So don't hate because our team was excited about winning.
So in the end i think the award for the most whining goes to the Bama fans who are in denial.  Accept it and go on.  Hopefully we'll be the SEC team that is representing the SEC in the NC game.  So until we meet again in Death Valley, GEAUX TIGERS!!!

by tigersgeaux on Nov 4, 2007 5:43 PM CST up reply actions

Well, if Hester throws a punch
to a guys helmet because he is talking trash, then that makes him a crybaby.  And you don't think your tigers were talking trash?  Eh?  Works both ways genius.  If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.  Oh, and Dorsey is a great player, but watch the replay of the game.  I saw him whining to the officials on numerous occasions.  Our players have D-I-S-C-I-P-L-I-N-E this year, yours obviously do not (4 Personal fouls in the first half?  How is that discipline?)

No, Alabama fans would not have stormed the field. See, we have been there before and will be there again.  You guys on the other hand, eh, not so much.

by BamaReturns07 on Nov 4, 2007 5:54 PM CST up reply actions

yeah right
I never said LSU wasn't trash talking "genius".  But if you think there wasn't anything happening in that pile up from BAMA also you are crazy.  Just like if a BAMA player was pushed into a group of LSU players on the sideline I doubt all would be innocent.
This was a great game from beginning to end that both teams and coaches wanted very badly.  Officiating was off both ways.  I'm tired of reading threads of excuse making.  You know what your team had the chance to put us out of the game and they didn't.  Now LSU is the team with the hopes of representing the SEC.  If BAMA was to have that opportunity I would cheer for them in NC game because they represent the SEC.  So come on BamaReturn jump on board the LSU NC train.....:)

by tigersgeaux on Nov 4, 2007 6:31 PM CST up reply actions

I have stated several times
that I will pull for the SEC when it comes down to it.  I just think you being here is really sad and pathetic; honestly, you would feel the same if we were over in your place if the situation were reversed.  That is my point.

I was pulling for you guys last year in the Sugar bowl; unfortunately, having you as a guest over here today certainly makes me second guess any pulling for LSU.  Glad I have friends who represent LSU much better than people like you.

Message boards
All I did was come over here to read your boards...I never insulted any of you.  There are alabama fans all over the lsu boards on Tigerdroppings.com.  Nothing sad and pathetic about wanting see what is being said about the team that you love to watch.  I commented to the fact that people were saying we were out coached.  I commented to the factthat the game was said by someone to be given to us.  Your guys played with lots of heart I never said they didn't, but I am going to back my team and defend them.  do I think they played sloppy in the 2nd and 3rd quarter absolutely, but they are still the team that I will pull for until the end.  I absolutely know that there would have been BAMA fans would have been all over LSU boards rubbing it in if the outcome would have been reversed.  They were all over the LSU boards before the game was ever played.

I don't feel like
having any grace or class about that loss.  It hurt.  It's just that we fans have become so used to the heartbreaker loss over the last few years...
Whatever, though.  Maybe we can take it out on Auburn in a few weeks.  I'll be wearing my Alabama baseball hat with pride today.  Roll Tide.

i know...
...that everyone's been picking on jpw this year, myself included, but how many times in his career has the nail-in-the-coffin been him getting sacked and dropping the ball in one smooth motion...deep in our territory? i can think of three, but i think i'm missing one?
