Saban Soundbites

TideSports.com has some soundbites from Coach Saban at the SEC meetings in Destin.

On accusations of recruiting violations:

"It's funny that it came from Miami."

When pressed and asked if the reports were inadequate, Saban repeated, "It's funny that it came from Miami. It's kind of funny to me."

On his opposition to a proposed early signing period:

"It would really increase the intensity of recruiting during the season, where you had more guys trying to visit during the season that it would actually impact the players you have on your team right now."

On a playoff system:

"You would solve a lot of those problems if there was just one more game," Saban said. "That would be a little better way of doing it and still respect the tradition and integrity of the bowl system. Also, the BCS bowl games would mean even more."

Saban also likes the idea of having all money raised from a championship playoff go to all student-athletes on top of their scholarships.

On...oh, just go read the whole thing.

People think this will blow over...
once Alabama returns to winning. I don't see it that way at all. Our enemies will only become more convinced that we had to cheat to get there. True enough, Miami will probably let it go eventually, but our SEC foes will become more shrill with each winning season.

I agree...
...with his sentiment of "It's funny that it came from Miami." Anything coming out of South Florida or Louisiana at this point like that I won't even give a second thought to.

Agreed.
Any report regarding Saban or the Alabama football program that emanates from south Florida carries approximately the same degree of credibility as anything regarding Iraq issuing from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

It'll only get worse, I'm sure. But we've long been despised in some circles; now, there are just more circles.

I'd like to think that the LSU rivalry will one day evolve into one of mutual respect. But I really couldn't care less what the average Floridian has to say about much of anything, excepting maybe a recommendation of good place to get Cuban food (which like like a lot).
