Todd's Friday Embarassing Admission...

...or, Todd Attempts to Curry Favor With the Football Gods by Admitting his Moral, Cultural, and Intellectual Flaws in a Very Public Manner.

Admitting I love Tequiza and voluntarily watched Norbit kept my internet working and the PPV game on, owning up to my lust for Paris Hilton garnered the Tide a win over Vandy despite some offensive troubles, and copping to a disturbing love for Phil Collins bought us a stirring fourth quarter rally against Arkansas. Unfortunately admitting that I own RV and the Pacifier apparently wasn't embarassing enough to get a win over Georgia, so it's time to step it up a notch in order to get past Florida State. So, to that effect, I present to you the most embarassing book I own:

So yeah, I'm just going to hang my head in shame over that one while you enjoy Your Friday AM Links and Such.

You know the bad blood between Saban and the South Florida media is getting out of control when columnists are imploring the almighty on Bobby Bowden's behalf:

I've never bought into the notion of God rooting for certain teams. Somehow, I just don't think He takes time out from comforting tsunami victims and feeding the Sudanese homeless just so he can become the Gators' 12th Man in Baton Rouge.

But if ever we needed divine intervention in sports, this would be the week -- the week Florida State plays Alabama in Jacksonville. I don't know about you, but I have to believe God never would allow Bobby Bowden to lose to Nick Saban.

I don't know if any of you guys saw it or not, but NBC 13 here in Birmingham did a thing on the evening news about "Is Saban worth $4 million?" They mostly focused on the economic impact to Tuscaloosa of the Tide being successful, and reported that that $14 million dollars in revenue is generated for the town every gameday. Seems worth it to me.

Looks like Roy Upchurch has worked his way into a three man rotation at running back:

"I've got no problem playing Roy," Saban said. "He's done a good job in practice. He's improved tremendously. His attitude toward his work has improved tremendously.

"He's become much more responsible to do things the right way."

Seriously, what is going on with Jimmy Johns? I'm clearly not the type to go trolling around on message boards looking for rumor and innuendo, but he has completely disappeared from the offense and I'm wondering if he's back in Saban's doghouse. Anyone heard anything?

All the "Bowden and Bama" hype is getting kind of old, but ESPN has a pretty good read about it, if you're so inclined.

The Capstone Report got to the bottom of the whole FireCoachNickSaban.com business, and found that it really was just a joke site.

Anyone tuning in to the LSU/Tulane game tomorrow morning will see a new look for the Green Wave and the Bayou Bengals:

Both the LSU Tigers and the Tulane Green Wave will wear a one-time, commemorative uniform to help raise money and awareness for Katrina Relief.

The uniforms for both teams will feature a rising pelican logo, designed by Nike. The Pelican emblem is a tribute to the state bird and resembles a rising Phoenix, a symbol of the rebirth of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast area.

Finally, what you've all been waiting for....Your Friday McPhee:

You're welcome.

Jimmy Johns
I'm not the type to go trolling message boards for rumor and innuendo either.  That said, I am the type to get my R&I second-hand from those that do.  Anyway, what I have heard from a co-worker is that the coaching staff are having a hard time finding a spot for Johns' skills and they may be considering a move to defense - either at linebacker or one of the safety positions.  Bear in mind that is pure scuttlebutt, and I of course have nothing whatsoever to back that up.  Enjoy.

Jimmy Johns
It really is mystifying.  I know that this is a new coaching staff with a fresh set of thinking, but it is hard to believe that Johns is not one of the 15-20 best athletes that Alabama has.  I just hope wherever he goes he will be effective.  I think he would definitely have the athletic ability to play some LB, and that would be an interesting change.

Dude
Could you imagine him at Safety. My god he's a beast. I think with our depth at tailback, a move to safety might be a good idea.

My question is this...
Do you actually own the German version pictured above?

I didn't even notice the German...
Actually, that's just the biggest image that came up on google image search, so I went with it. Owning it in German would be pretty cool, though.

Do you have the book in German?
Or is that some other language on the cover (the fine white print)? (maybe Dutch)

Beat me to it, Nico
I had the comment typed, but checked Amazon quickly before I submitted.

Paris & Britney?
Todd, I may have to start questioning your judgement on other things.

Johns at linebacker? THAT would be amazing! He loves to hit people, so let him, on EVERY Frickin' play.

Alabama football USE to be about offense.

It's gonna get worse...
...before it gets better. I guess it just proves how much I love the Tide.
