Your RBR Word of the Day: Importunate

importunate \im-POR-chuh-nit\, adjective:
Troublesomely urgent; overly persistent in request or demand; unreasonably solicitous.

In her defense, an importunate bladder full of Miller Lite has caused more than one person to "warm the Gulf waters."

That is not...
...The Girl. She is far to prim and proper to ever a) pee in the ocean, and b) allow herself to be photographed with a Miller Lite can in her hand. Ole Miss sorority girls, what!

by Todd on Apr 30, 2008 4:06 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

So The Girl would . . .
do one or the other, but just not both at the same time.  I guess that's still pretty cool.

My wife would be embarrassed that the girl didn't have her can properly placed in a monogrammed hugger.  Letting your can go naked is so declasse.

just wanted to start some drama.  Hell, I'm bored.

Lordy, lordy, lordy!
I ain't one to gossip. . . .and you certainly didn't hear this from me ;). . . but I think I can be in love with Todd's "not girlfriend". . . .and this I absolutely haven't declared. . . .Yellow-polka-dot-bikini-Bama-girl is one tall glass o'water, and I'M THIRSTY!

Parched, I'll tell ya! (I said that!)

She's dazzling. And I think she's a flower. (Nico, BRING HER! I have ambitions of introducing you to either Zalfa (smokin' Palestinean princess), or Moti (Persian 'SC co-ed), or Yael (Egyptian/French gymnast who also enjoys Brazilian disco music/dance) as a broheem-to-broheem trade-off, no?)

hhhmmm...
I wanna get in on that...especially Yael...
I got some to trade...mostly Puerto Rican...

OK, ok!
Throwing caution to the wind, and with a tad trepidation. . . .I pick door # 2. Spock, you got yerself a deal! :)

[ewwww! we dawgs! and in the profound words of N.W.A. ". . .it don't matter just don't bite {'em}"

Hey King of Hip-hop, I wanted to write you earlier- but I (-Beastie anyone?) ". . .talk too much" enough as it is. . . and just mention that I went out and got me some Slum Village (from your last week's Random 10)- and those cats are tore-up! Can't stop  playing it. If I could I would, anyway. . ."knuckle-touch" (tink).

And. . . .thanks Spock. For all that you do for us. You know? Alright alright.

quoting NWA...
that's that shit right there!!! haha...
the Slum Village pick is ill, too...what album did you get??? Fantastic Vol. 2 is the best IMO...but they all have some hits. I'm glad to hear someone listening to "good" hip-hop instead of that same ol' ish that gets played on the radio...

and you're welcome? I guess...? I'm just serving my country..."I make it do what it do baby..." (c) Jamie Foxx...

Yup yup!
That's the one I got. (it wasn't cheap- Rasputin Records in Berzerkley sent it to me cheaper than Amazon or Amoeba).

Craziness, is all.

"Climax"- whaaaaaaaat? sick!
"What's it all about" and "Forth and Back" - shiiiiiiiit! Alright alright!

I can go on and on "Players", "Thelonious". Tore-up I tell ya. Again- thanks for the nudge, mo!

Ever hear of NorCal/EastBay MC's - Keak da'Sneak? Da Baydestrian? (i know you heard of E-40 and Mac Dre) What do you think of "The Hyphy" sounds?

Hope all's well.

Regarding...
Regarding a lack of hearing "Y'all"...there are some things I'm willing to deal with...and I think that's one of them.

Hey...
talking can be overrated sometimes, but I'll keep my ya'll factor, thanks.  It's been a hit in a few countries I've been to.  Speaking of those other countries, is Greece a no go?

by bamavicki on May 1, 2008 9:12 AM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Don't get me wrong...
...I'm a big fan of the word "y'all" and an even bigger fan of the phrase "all y'all" but I also love the ladies of the near east and wouldn't mind forfeiting the hearing of "y'all" that's all I'm saying. :p

I think I'm going to secure the frequent flyer ticket today actually. I will probably be in touch soon about some other stuff if you're game...

Sho 'nuff, broheem!

...what you're talking about, but if it involves Persian, Israeli and Palestinian ladies, then I'm FOR IT!

It's just an ol' church hymn . . . .
. . .I thought everybody remembers singing THAT one in church?

When I last heard it sang within "the family", I was told it also was one of Bear Bryant's favorites.

I just googled the lyrics,'cause I only know a little bit of the song. It kinda also has a slow, choppy cadence and I've never really been able to hit the notes right on this song for the life of me. A lot like a Tom Waits song. (Oh, but I can sing "Fumbling With the Blues" and "Big Joe and Phantom 309" alright. That's about all though)

You wanna read about it? Here it goes:
Love Lifted Me

I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore,
Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more,
But the Master of the sea, heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I.

[Refrain]
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help
Love lifted me!

All my heart to Him I give, ever to Him I'll cling
In His blessèd presence live, ever His praises sing,
Love so mighty and so true, merits my soul's best songs,
Faithful, loving service too, to Him belongs.

[Refrain]

Souls in danger look above, Jesus completely saves,
He will lift you by His love, out of the angry waves.
He's the Master of the sea, billows His will obey,
He your Savior wants to be, be saved today.

[Refrain]

Sorry with that one Nico, got a little carried away. It happens from time to time. Wait. Scratch that. . . .More often than not.

Knuckle-touch? [tink!]

And. . . .
. . .the "in-inside" part of it all is, I think it's safe to say that we both know "we're scandalous" in some "circles of conversation"- that's what a broheem do, no? We're both conditioned on Bear's legacy. And yeah, it's definitely got something to do with WOMEN. (when doesn't it? totally just joshin'. but then again, they DO seem to be both the  "poison AND the remedy")

Let's put it this way, IF it's true we're destined for HELL? Than between you and me, we won't know any strangers down there. It's a treat knowing my brothas and sisters in this realm, we might be able to help each other out in the next. (maybe we already are? hmmmmm? oh no! uh-uh, i ain't gettin' myself on another crazy RBR-kick again. not today!  it's Saturday, and i gotta lotta skatin' to do. and yup, that too. drankin')

Hope you have a capital weekend. Awesome "Bodysnatchers" pick! Last week's brother's singin' "Alabama" brought tears to my eyes. Seriously, that was so good, nothing I could write to comment on it sounded good or could do that pick of yours justice! It's in a class by itself. All y'all/ya'll over at RBR are too good to us. Don't you boys ever stop now, hear?

by tapout on May 3, 2008 1:26 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hey bamavicki- up until I was about 10. . . .
. . . .I thought my brother's name was "Ya'll" and my name was just "Boy". Because my mama would always be sayin', "Ya'll! You better mind yourself. And Boy! Get your finger out your nose"

Then one day, she says, "Ya'll better not do that again. Next time you do, you'll wish you HADN'T!" And I say to her, "But mama, Ya'll's in college right now. I'm Boy, 'member?" Had her laughin' and I thought she'd calmed down. No. She cracked me upside the head anyway and reminded me to not "get fresh" with her. (and lemme tell you, I was glad we were out shopping- because if I'd been at home, she woulda had me in the bathroom trying to stuff soap in my mouth. Again) She's a spitfire my mama. And didn't take no guff. Still doesn't.

Your mama
probably should be nominated for sainthood.  Just sayin.

You are close to achieving legendary status.  You make me life, Lord Jesus, do you make me laugh.

In fact, at ADAY Vicki and I were laughing about one of your posts.  Geez...
