Monday Morning Required Reading is looking forward to SEC Media Days because that's all we've got till Fall practice starts.
News outlets in Tennessee are reporting that Alabama's Executive Director of Athletics, Dave Hart, has been offered the University of Tennessee Athletic Director job. We are still waiting word but this would be a big loss of UA and a huge coup for the Vols. Outside of Coach Saban, Hart's hiring in 2008 might be the most important made on the watch of UA AD Mal Moore. Hart has pretty much run the day-to-day operations for some time now and, more importantly, he's been in charge of bolstering the effectiveness of the compliance department. There's a reason we turn a deaf ear when nattering websites try and make a case against Alabama athletes based on flimsy evidence. When the UA compliance department issues a statement saying they have investigated an incident that statement carries weight. And that's not homerism. Quality investigative reporters who know a thing or two about college football scandals know it as well. The key to preventing scandals comes down to "leadership and compliance" and Dave Hart has definitely provided that at The Capstone. UPDATE:: Don Kausler Jr tweets that UA has confirmed Hart has conferred with UT about the AD job "and no timeframe exists for making a decision."
