Apparently Coach Saban stopped by for a chat with Pete Carroll while in LA for an ESPN College GameDay commercial. Caption time, people. via the Ripsit Blog Update: LSU Jonno comes through with a doozy. Pete: I just can’t keep my hands warm on the sidelines sometimes. You got any advice Nick? Saban: Well, Pete, there is a process that we go through to warm our hands. That is definitely something that we try to accomplish wherever we go. You have to think of this in terms of where you want to be, relative to the cold hands that you have now. Pete: But how long will it take for my hands to warm up? Nick : Pete, I can tell you right now, that is the wrong attitude. What we try to do is build confidence that we will execute, but you can’t let expectations get in the way of the process that we have in place for warming the hands. The enthusiasm should be what it ought to be, aight. Pete: But Nick, I’ve tried, and I just can’t… Nick: Listen, I can tell that there’s very little interest from you to engage in the process of warming your hands, which to me is a tremendous opportunity. I try to tell everyone, you’re only going to remember one thing about this game and that’s how warm your hands are. So there’s no interest, there’s no passion and everybody is embarrassed because of how cold our hands are. Well, it’s because you didn’t have any passion for it, you didn’t have any interest in it, you didn’t have any enthusiasm to do it, and that’s across the board. And that’s not right. We go to a BCS bowl game, everybody ought to be positive and enthusiastic about how warm our hands should be relative to our opponent’s. Pete: *%$#, Lane is screwed.

Saban closed the deal with Sims at a dizzying pace. It was the stuff of recruiting legends. Last Wednesday, Sims said West Virginia, Michigan and UGA were his top three choices. Thursday, Alabama offered out of the blue. Friday, Sims talked to Saban for the first time in his life. Saturday, Sims visited Alabama for the first time. Within a few hours, Saban had Sims so fired up he was ready to learn words to the school fight song. "Coach Saban showed me love, lots of love," Sims said. "He let me know I was very important to the future of Alabama football. I was head over heels about the place. I surprised myself by committing. I just looked up and asked God to help me with my college decision." Alabama’s Nick Saban rolls into Georgia for 2010 prospects Sims is only one of three Georgia natives to commit to the Tide so far, equal to the number Georgia Tech has picked up and two more than UGA. What was that about a focus on recruiting the Atlanta area?
