NCAA Sets Deadline for Suspended Players, or We'll Know Something Next Week

Looks like we'll know the status of the five suspended players before the LSU game:

"We don't want a student-athlete to sit out a game because they're waiting on a decision," said Stacey Osburn, the NCAA's associate director for public and media relations. "We want them to have that decision before a game."

Osburn would not speak specifically about the situation at Alabama, where officials have discovered improprieties involving the receipt of textbooks that led to the suspension of starting guards Antoine Caldwell and Marlon Davis, backup running back Glen Coffee, reserve cornerback Marquis Johnson and special teamer Chris Rogers for the Crimson Tide's 41-17 win over Tennessee Saturday.

By NCAA rule, Alabama must declare the players ineligible if they could be in in violation of NCAA rules.

Let's hope they can get things sorted out in time.
