The Crimson Tide got more good news this morning, as Terrence Cody committed to play for Alabama.
Cody is a gargantuan junior college defensive tackle prospect. Scout.com officially lists him at 6'5 and 385 pounds, and he is every bit that, and perhaps even a bit bigger. Some recruiting services, actually, put him closer to 400 pounds. Long story short, Cody is the massive nose tackle that you ideally want to have in the 3-4 scheme.
As mentioned earlier, Cody is a junior college player who will have two years of eligibility remaining. Coming out of high school in South Florida, Cody could have went to Miami but could not qualify academically. After that he went the JUCO route on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and has turned himself into one of the top JUCO recruits in the country. During the 2007 regular season, he racked up 31 tackles and 3.5 sacks as he helped lead his team to an undefeated record.
Cody is rated as a four-star defensive tackle prospect by the recruiting services, and chose the Tide over the likes of Florida State, Tennessee, Auburn, and Ole Miss.
You can just get ready for it, there is a good chance that he starts in 2008. Rest assured the Nicktator didn't sign a JUCO player to ride the pine. He is fully expected to be a meaningful contributor from day one.
