Reports: Tuberville to Arkansas

Brace yourself folks...

Several published reports have Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville going to Fayetteville to be the new head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks. This is no longer just your typical dumb "Tubby's goin' to Arkansas" type rumor, it has reached a legitimate stage.<<p> KNWA TV out of Fayetteville reported earlier that the situation could still change, but they "firmly believe" that Tuberville has agreed to take over the Arkansas football program.

Arkansas Sports 360 is reporting something similar in their own right. They say that the deal is not final yet, but that "Tommy Tuberville appears prepared to accept Arkansas' offer to become the Razorbacks next football coach."

The contract negotiations with Auburn have ran into some troubles, and the deal was not finalized when it was wanted to. Tuberville later said that he would be out of the office for the next week or so, and that indicated a deal with Auburn was not looming in the immediate future. And now it looks like Tuberville is heading to Arkansas. Sufficed to say, this one could be big.

Update [2007-11-29 22:51:3 by outsidethesidelines]:

It may all be smoke and mirrors, but this thing is starting to light up like a Christmas tree.

Fox 16 of Little Rock is now reporting that Tuberville "is close to signing a deal" to be the next head coach of the Razorbacks.

KFSM-5 out of Fayetteville is also reporting something similar, but goes a bit more in-depth. Specifically they report, "Various sources tell 5NEWS that such a deal may be close but it isn't a sure thing. Sources say Cowboy's owner Jerry Jones has been a major player in the brokerage of a deal. Jones is reportedly not only agreeing to cough up money to get Tuberville but to pay his assistants top money as well."
