Gentry Estes over at al.com is reporting that the shuffling of the 2008 football schedule continues, with Northern Illinois being dropped for Arkansas State. Here's what he thinks the schedule might now look like:
Sept. 6 -- Tulane*
Sept. 13 -- TBD or OPEN
Sept. 20 -- at Arkansas
Sept. 27 -- at Georgia
Oct. 4 -- Kentucky
Oct. 11 -- TBD or OPEN
Oct. 18 -- Ole Miss
Oct. 25 -- at Tennessee
Nov. 1 -- Arkansas State
Nov. 8 -- Mississippi State
Nov. 15 -- at LSU
Nov. 22 -- TBD or OPEN
Nov. 29 -- Auburn
* - Tentative, not confirmed
Personally, I was looking forward to a chance for some revenging against the Huskies, but so long as it means we're upgrading from Western Kentucky to Clemson, I guess I can wait.
Update [2007-12-13 12:24:36 by Todd]:
After re-reading this post, I realized I need to clarify it a little. My wording makes it sound like we dropped Western Kentucky for Clemson, but that is not the case. We aren't completely replacing Western Kentucky with Clemson, just moving them somewhere else on the schedule to allow an opening weekend match against Clemson. The Crimson Tide, as of right now, will still take on the Hilltoppers at some point during the 2008 season. Of course, this schedule has been in flux all year long, with UTEP being dropped to make room for a marquee matchup (in this case, Clemson), and now NIU getting replaced with Arkansas State, so there is always a strong possibility that the OOC schedule won't look anything like that at the start of next season.
