SEC Baseball Week In Review

In addition to our own beloved Tide, we'll be keeping tabs on the rest of SEC Baseball every Monday by running down the previous week's action and the records/standings of the conference members. Western Division

8-2 Fri., Feb. 23 Alabama 1 vs Villanova 6

The Tide improved to 8-2 Saturday, sweeping it's double header with Villanova after dropping Friday night's game, and take the field again Wednesday, February 28th in Tuscaloosa against the UAB Blazers.

9-3 Fri., Feb. 23 Arkansas 12 vs Illinois State 1
Sat. Feb. 24 Arkansas 10 vs Illinois State 12
Sun., Feb. 25 Arkansas 9 vs Illinois State 8

After dropping the second in a three game series to ISU, the Hogs trailed 7-0 Sunday afternoon before scoring nine runs in the final four innings to clinch the series. They head to the Minneapolis Metrodome on Friday to take on Ole Miss, The Citadel, and Minnesota in the Dairy Queen Classic.

10-1 Fri., Feb. 23 Auburn 7 vs Jacksonville 6
Sat. Feb. 24 Auburn 11 at Michigan State 6
Sun., Feb. 25 Auburn 20 at South Alabama 5

The #29 Tigers ended the weekend big, blowing out South Alabama to close the Coca Cola Classic 3-0. They return to the plains on wednesday to face Samford before hosting a three game series with Arizona State.

7-3 Fri., Feb. 23 LSU 4 vs UCF 1
Sat. Feb. 24 LSU 13 vs UCF 6
Sun., Feb. 25 LSU 4 vs UCF 5

The Golden Knights broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the eighth to snap the Tigers' four game win streak and avoid a sweep with a 5-4 victory over LSU Sunday. LSU returns to action Tuesday against Tulane, and will welcome Lipscomb to Baton Rouge over the weekend.

6-3 Fri., Feb. 23 Ole Miss 3 vs Wright State 2
Sat. Feb. 24 Ole Miss 0 vs Wright State i
Sun., Feb. 25 Ole Miss 2 vs Wright State 5

The Rebels finished the weekend 6-3 overall after dropping two of three to Wright State. They return to action Tuesday, hosting Belmont, before joining division foe Arkansas in Minneapolis for the Dairy Queen Classic.

3-0 Fri., Feb. 23 Mississippi State 10 vs Murray State 5
Sat. Feb. 24 Mississippi State 13 vs Murray State 1
Sun., Feb. 25 Mississippi State 17 vs Murray State 9

The Bulldogs opened their season this weekend, hosting Murray State, and are off to a 3-0 start after sweeping Murray State in Starkville. They play host to the Cadence Bank Classic this weekend against Troy and Michigan.

Eastern Division

5-6 Fri., Feb. 23 Florida 4 vs Kent State 10
Sat. Feb. 24 Florida 7 vs Kent State 0
Sun., Feb. 25 Florida 0 vs Kent State 1

Florida dropped it's weekend series with Kent State in their first ever meeting, losing Sunday on a sixth inning solo homer for the Golden Flashes. The Gators head to Tampa on Tuesday to taken on USF before returning home and hosting George Washington over the weekend.

3-4 Fri., Feb. 23 UGA 9 vs Purdue 0
Sat. Feb. 24 UGA 0 vs Purdue 5
Sat., Feb. 24 UGA 2 vs Purdue 0

The Diamond Dawgs split their double header with Purdue on Saturday to take a series marked by shutouts. They take the field again Tuesday against Winthrop before playing host to Southern Cal over the weekend.

7-0 Fri., Feb. 23 Kentucky 10 Tennessee Tech 2
Sat. Feb. 24 Kentucky 6 Tennessee Tech 4
Sun., Feb. 25 Kentucky 10 Tennessee Tech 3

The 'Cats had a five run seventh inning to break a tie game and went on to blow out the Golden Eagles Sunday, capping a three game sweep of Tennessee Tech. They take on Oakland Tuesday and Xavier Wednesday before hosting UW-Milwaukee over the weekend.

8-1 Fri., Feb. 23 South Carolina 6 vs Eastern Michigan 0
Sat. Feb. 24 South Carolina 8 vs Eastern Michigan 5
Sat., Feb. 24 South Carolina 5 vs Eastern Michigan 1

The 'Cocks swept Eastern Michigan to improve to 8-1 over the weekend, and will head take on hated rival Clemson this weekend, visiting the Tigers Saturday and playing host Sunday.

6-5 Fri., Feb. 23 Tennessee 6 vs IPFW 1
Sat. Feb. 24 Tennessee 11 vs IPFW 1
Sun., Feb. 25 Tennessee 9 vs IPFW 1

The Vols earned their first three game sweep this weekend, outscoring the IPFW Mastadons (best mascot EVAH?) 20-2 during Saturday's double header. They will play host to Illinois-Chicago this weekend.

10-0 Fri., Feb. 23 Vandy 4 vs Pitt 3
Sat. Feb. 24 Vandy 15 vs Ball State 3
Sun., Feb. 25 Vandy 7 vs Boston College 6

The top ranked Commodores rallied in the 9th to top Boston College 7-6, continuing their undefeated season. The win capped a sweep of the Music City Classic for Vandy before they welcome Austin Peay to Nashville on Tuesday and continue their homestand by hosting a three game series with Xavier over the weekend.
