Your "Not Just a Football School" Update...

...courtesy the Basketball and Softball teams.

Ronald Steele is likely out for tonight's Ole Miss game, and possibly the rest of the season.  At this point, does it really matter?  He hasn't been "Ronald Steele" all season and it's been wondered here and elsewhere why he has as many minutes as he does.  Besides, as Ray Melick so eloquently puts it, even if we do get into the tournament (and we still can) "this Alabama team doesn't seem very interested in dancing."

For the second week in a row, a Tide softball player is the SEC Player of the Week:

SEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lauren Parker - Alabama
(2B/SS , So., Port Neches, Texas)

Parker was named Hampton Inn Crimson Classic Tournament MVP after hitting .643 (9-of-14) with six runs, three doubles and six RBI (all team-highs) to go with, one home run and two stolen bases. She set tournament records for batting avg. (.643), runs scored (6), hits (9) and doubles (3). She recorded four multi-hit games on the weekend and reached base in 12 times on nine hits, one walk and two hit-by-pitch. She scored a run in all six games to help keep the Tide undefeated on the season. She finished with a .667 on-base pct. and a 1.071 slugging pct.

In other softball news, the ladies moved up to #3 in the latest ESPN.com/USA Today poll.
