SEC Baseball Week in Review

Tuesday, March 20th thru Sunday, March 25th

Western Division

3/21 Bama 3 vs Miss Valley State 1
3/23 Bama 7 at Ole Miss 5
3/24 Bama 2 at Ole Miss 3
3/25 Bama 9 at Ole Miss 15

The Tide finally got a mid-week win, but that's about all they got accomplished this week, giving the #13 Ole Miss Rebels the weekend series 1-2. They get the week off to prepare for a visit from LSU over the weekend.

3/21 Arkansas 16 at Centenary 14
3/23 Arkansas 8 vs Vandy 7
3/24 Arkansas 3 vs Vandy 6
3/25 Arkansas 8 vs Vandy 3

The #9 Hogs jumped on top of the Western Division yesterday when they took the weekend series with the top ranked Commodores to improve to 4-2 in conference play. They'll hit the road this week, first with a visit to Oral Roberts and then a trip to Knoxville (boo! hiss!) on Friday.

3/23 Auburn 7 vs Florida 8
3/24 Auburn 9 vs Florida 12
3/25 Auburn 3 vs Florida 10

What the crap is going on on the plains? After being swept by a far inferior (at least on paper) UGA squad in Athens, the Teagles were expected rebound handily in Auburn against Florida, but instead were swept for the second weekend in a row to drop to 0-6 in conference play. They'll hop over to Macon on Tuesday to take on Mercer before welcoming the Ole Miss squad that took Alabama over the weekend.

3/21 LSU vs Southeastern Louisiana 3
3/23 LSU 2 vs Kentucky 16
3/24 LSU 5 vs Kentucky 6
3/25 LSU 9 vs Kentucky 9

LSU got hosed in a bizarre series over the weekend, with the Tigers losing on Saturday due to some fishy officiating and tieing on Sunday when Kentucky plated two runs before SEC travel regulations stopped the game in the eighth inning so the 'Cats wouldn't miss their flight out of New Orleans. They'll welcome UNO to Alex Box on Tuesday before heading to beautiful Tuscaloosa for the weekend.

3/20 Ole Miss 8 at South Alabama 6
3/23 Ole Miss 5 vs Bama 8
3/24 Ole Miss 3 vs Bama 2
3/25 Ole Miss 15 vs Bama 9

The Rebs took their series with the Tide two games to one over the weekend, so screw them.

3/21 State 7 vs Samford 6
3/23 State 3 vs South Carolina 20
3/24 State 6 vs South Carolina 5
3/25 State 3 vs South Carolina 8

After gutting out a win in 12 innings on Saturday, the Bulldogs couldn't close out the series, instead dropping to 3-3 in conference play while the 'Cocks head back to Columbia with a 2-1 mark over the weekend. State will welcome Memphis on tuesday and wednesday, followed by Kentucky on "Super Bulldog Weekend," whatever that is.

Eastern Division

3/20 Florida 3 at Stetson 4
3/23 Florida 8 at Auburn 7
3/24 Florida 12 at Auburn 9
3/25 Florida 10 at Auburn 3

The Gators finally got past .500 in spectacular fashion, sweeping the Teagles in Auburn after dropping one in DeLand (where?) to Stetson (serious, where?) on Tuesday. They'll welcome Bethune-Cookman to Gainesville on Tuesday before heading to Athens to take on rival UGA.

Any mention of Bethune-Cookman automatically requires a picture of football coach and head sex machine Alvin Wyatt, the man you secretly wish you were.

3/20 UGA 9 vs Mercer 3
3/23 UGA 3 at Tennessee 4
3/24 UGA 2 at Tennessee 10
3/25 UGA 5 at Tennessee 11

After opening conference play with a sweep of Auburn, UGA returned to form this weekend, dropping three to Tennessee (boo! hiss!) in Knoxville. They'll welcome Furman to Athens on Wednesday before the hated Gators roll into town for the weekend.

3/21 Kentucky 12 vs Western Kentucky 5
3/23 Kentucky 16 at LSU 2
3/24 Kentucky 6 at LSU 5
3/18 Kentucky 9 at LSU 9

The 'Cats caught a couple of lucky breaks this weekend in a bizarre series with LSU to improve to 3-2-1 in the conference. They'll return to action in Lexington against Morehead State on Wednesday before traveling to Starkville.

3/20 South Carolina 9 vs UNC Asheville 2
3/21 South Carolina 13 at Wofford 1
3/23 South Carolina 20 at Miss State 3
3/24 South Carolina 5 at Miss State 6
3/25 South Carolina 8 at Miss State 3

The 'Cocks went 4-1 this week, dropping one Saturday in extra innings in Starkville, and have a tough test ahead of them in a visiting Vandy squad over the weekend. Before that, though, they'll travel to North Carolina to take on Elon on Tuesday.

3/20 Tennessee 16 vs Wright State 4
3/23 Tennessee 4 vs UGA 3
3/24 Tennessee 10 vs UGA 2
3/25 Tennessee 11 vs UGA 5

The Vols (boo! hiss!) swept UGA in Knoxville over the weekend, and look to improve their standings with a visit from a hot Arkansas team over the weekend. They'll take a trip to Cookeville, TN on Tuesday for a date with Tenn. Tech before the Hogs come calling on Friday.

3/20 Vandy 15 vs Western Kentucky 2
3/23 Vandy 7 at Arkansas 8
3/24 Vandy 6 at Arkansas 3
3/25 Vandy 3 at Arkansas 8

The top ranked Commodores stumbled this weekend, dropping their weekend series in Fayetteville one game to two. They'll host Middle Tennessee State on Wednesday before hitting the road again with a trip to Columbia on Friday.
