Your "Not Just a Football School" Update...

...courtesy the #3 Tide Softball Team.

Alabama Softball (21-0) opens conference play this weekend against Mississippi State.  They take the field tomorrow for a double header and again on Sunday for the third game of the series.

The Tide holds a 28-7 all time record against the Bulldogs, and is looking to extend the six game win streak that dates back to 2004.  As a team, Alabama leads the SEC in home runs, stolen bases, fewest home runs allowed and pickoffs, and should extend their unbeaten season at least a few more days against the Bulldogs, who come to town sporting a 15-8 record and riding a three game win streak.

Saturday is a special day for Senior Mandy Burford, who will be honored with "Mandy Burford Day" at the softball complex.

Burford has come into her own this season for Bama with a team-high seven home runs and 28 RBI. She has three games with five or more RBI. She is also second on the team with 23 runs scored and has batted .404 in 20 games. She is tied for the team lead with 16 stolen bases and has two games with two home runs on the year.

Congratulations to Burford, and good luck to the rest of the team.

Burford is congratulated by head coach Pat Murphy after hitting a two run homer in the first inning of the Easton Spring Fling Championship Game.
