More Woo Softball!

Congratulations to Dani Woods, your SEC Softball Player of the Week.

Dani Woods, Alabama, OF

Dani Woods led Alabama to a 5-0 record on the week. She recorded nine RBI and came through with big hits all week. Her nine RBI moved her into 10th on the career list at UA. In the first game of the week against Northwestern State, she recorded a two-run single as part of an eight-run second inning and another RBI single to put the Tide in front 11-6. In the next game against Florida Atlantic she drove in Alabama's only run in a 1-0 victory with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Woods was 5-of-7 in the weekend series with Auburn. She went 2-for-2 with a run and three RBI in the first game. She broke a scoreless tie in the second game with a double and a RBI. Her double moved her into 10th on the all-time list at Alabama. In Saturday's series finale, she hit a solo home run and scored twice. For the week she had a .917 slugging pct. and a .571 OBP with a sacrifice fly and two sacrifice bunts.

Woods is the third Alabama player to receive such honors this season (she joins Brittany Rogers and Lauren Parker as SEC Players of the Week), and this makes her fourth time being named player of the week, having also earned player of the week honors three times last season.

Woods in action.

The Softball Team stretched their win streak to nine straight this afternoon with a sweep of their double header against visiting UT-Chattanooga (I know it's not the real UT, but it's a UT, plus Terrell Owens played there, so boo! hiss!), and will return to action in Oxford, AL (what did they do to deserve that?!) against Mercer next Tuesday.
