Update [2007-5-20 23:45:11 by Todd]:
Nothing new to add, I'm just bumping this back to the top for anyone that might have missed it.

A week or two ago I wrote a story titled: Dixie's Football Pride: Why I Am an Alabama Fan and it received a positive response in the comments section and I also received several complimentary emails about it. As Todd posted earlier this morning, Hack made a similar post over the weekend explaining his story.

We want to hear your story too. So, we're having our first annual RollBamaRoll.com essay, photo and video contest. We're not wealthy so the top prize won't be an Escalade or a pair of season tickets, but we do have a copy of the book that inspired the contest: What It Means to Be Crimson Tide. Here's a description of the book:

In What It Means to Be Crimson Tide, 60 players who wore the Crimson and White over a 75-year span have the same story to tell--a story of love for The University of Alabama and gratitude for the experience of having been a part of Crimson Tide football. Yet each man, with that similar story of pride, dedication, and success with Alabama football, has a unique story as well. This book evokes those stories, many of them appearing in print for the first time.

So here's the dealio:

Tell us What It Means to Be Crimson Tide to you as a fan.

You can tell us in words or with a photo or a video. There is no word limit on essays, no time limit on the videos. There is a limit of one essay, one video or one photo per person. Be creative, have fun with it. Todd & I will select the best entries and then post them here on RollBamaRoll.com. The winner will be determined 1/3 by Todd's vote, 1/3 by my vote and 1/3 by public poll on RBR.

So, if you have to get up at 2:30 a.m. in Saudi Arabia to listen to games over the internet and then go to work at 7:00 a.m. or if you turned a 1950 truck into the ultimate tailgating grill or if you've implored Shinto gods to bring suffering on Auburn, we know you have a story to tell about What It Means to Be Crimson Tide.

All entries must be submitted to rollbamaroll at gmail.com by midnight central time on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007. Winner will be announced on Friday, June 1st, 2007.

It has a retail value of almost $30!
