Hunter got the win in the victory over Tennessee that clinched Alabama's 2006 SEC Championship.
Congratulations go out to Tommy Hunter, who was selected 54th overall in the MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers. He hasn't made a decision yet about whether to go to the Rangers' organization or to stay in Tuscaloosa for his junior season. Full story from RollTide.com here. Also keep your eye on SBN blog Lone Star Ball to see what they have to say about drafting Hunter. Here's what Hunter has to say about the tough decision he faces:
"I have already spoken with Texas and we are going to meet to see what their plans might be for me," Hunter added. "There is a lot of information to process right now. I have not talked with Coach (Jim) Wells, but I will do that before I make any decisions."
Despite the excitement of being drafted, Hunter seemed to take it all in stride:
"It has been a very exciting day," Hunter said from his home in Indianapolis, Ind. "I am very excited to be the 54th overall pick in the country. I could not be happier with that. And, I just caught another four-pound bass."
