When the Alabama football team initially reported for Fall practice, it was announced that kick-returner and wide receiver Jonathon Lowe was academically ineligible and therefore would not play in 2007. However, today in his afternoon press conference, Coach Nick Saban stated that Lowe successfully sought an academic appeal, and that he was no eligible for the 2007 season.
Lowe won't contribute at all wide receiver, but he could be a key cog in the kick-return game. As I've posted before (click here, and then again here), kick returns will take on an added importance in 2007 due to the kick-off being moved from the 35 back to the 30.
Without doubt, this is good news for the Crimson Tide.
