Cross Chow off the list... And Loeffer too... Hatcher Offered?

The hirings and firings of UCLA wouldn't typically interest many of our readers, but since, judging from the comments over the past week or so, a lot of you had your fingers crossed for Norm Chow to be hired, no such luck:

Norm Chow, who is considered one of the top offensive coaches in football history, has been named offensive coordinator at UCLA, Bruin head football coach Rick Neuheisel announced today.

Update [2008-1-21 16:11:26 by outsidethesidelines]: You can also scratch Scot Loeffler off of the list as well. It was announced today that he was hired by the Detroit Lions to be their quarterbacks coach. Quoting MLive.com:

The Lions have confirmed the hiring of former University of Michigan quarterback coach Scot Loeffler to fill the same position in Detroit. Loeffler, who was also linked to job openings with UCLA, Alabama and Tennessee, will work closely with new offensive coordinator Jim Colletto and passing coordinator Kippy Brown.

Loeffler was the favorite early on, but we are now moving in another direction. I imagine we will find out on all of those Hatcher rumors soon.

Update [2008-1-21 18:35:29 by outsidethesidelines]:

Kirk McNair, editor and founder of 'BamaMag, went on the record earlier today by saying that Georgia Southern head coach Chris Hatcher had been officially offered the offensive coordinator position by Nick Saban. McNair reported that the offer was given earlier today on The Ultimate Sports Show with Kenny Stabler, broadcast on 960 AM out of Birmingham.

If true, hopefully Hatcher will take the bait. The only way, in my eyes, to describe his hire would be huge.
