New OC Target: Nebraska's Shawn Watson: Updated

From The Rap Sheet:

University of Alabama coach Nick Saban has added another name to his list of possible future offensive coordinators.

Nebraska offensive coordinator Shawn Watson has been approached by Saban, The News learned, with an interview possibly scheduled this week.

While the Huskers were, to put it mildly, terrible this past season, it wasn't for a lack of offense. They finished 9th in the country in total offense, but were generally miserable at stopping anyone, finishing 112th in total defense.

Update [2008-1-21 12:0:12 by Todd]:

Gentry Estes of the Mobile Press-Register got in touch with Watson:

Watson didn't have much to say about it when reached by the Press-Register this morning, but he didn't deny his interest, saying, "I can't make any comments on that right now. I just can't do that right now."

He was visiting a recruit when contacted. Asked if there were plans for him to interview in Tuscaloosa this week, Watson replied, "No, nothing like that's been talked about."

Ah, coach speak...
