I thought it would be a good idea to have a post addressing a few issues with some of the posts made recently, and plans for the future.

First and foremost, thanks to everyone for the positive feedback regarding the Dennis Franchione Chronicles. It's always a bit disappointing to put some legitimate amount of time and effort into a piece and then have it go unnoticed, so the fact that the first two installments received such a large amount of feedback was very nice to see. Moreover, I apologize for the length of it all, but I'm afraid it is necessary. I could have just started from the time that Franchione himself was hired, but I really don't think you can take a legitimate look at something of this nature without first well-versing yourself in the background of the situation that the person in question stepped into. For better or for worse, as William Faulkner said, the past is never dead, and it is not even past. The truth is that that the past has an impact on the future, so you need to look at that too. Again, I apologize for the length of things, but I'm afraid it is a necessary evil.

Two more notes. One, someone asked if I could post any links to supporting information of all that I mention. I'm afraid that would be nearly impossible to put into one post, but rest assured you can find just about everything via an effective search on Google. As most of you know, I'm not an "insider" nor do I claim to be, and what I know comes not from what I heard from the best friend's brother's ex-girlfriend's great uncle who roomed with Mal way back when, or something like that. What I've come to know is just from following the Tide very close for a long period of time. Again, if you want some confirmation of something or just another look at it, you can probably do all you want with a good Google search. And also, thanks to Bamagrad for his comments, they've really been something great. Someone mentioned that we should compile them later and post them in a separate thread, and I think we just may do that, it's okay with him.

I am, however, going to take a mini-break from doing the Franchione chronicles. Believe it or not, Spring practice is here and will start in just a couple of days. I'm going to spend some more time, at least in the early going, addressing that, and then in a bit we'll pick up where we left out with the stuff about Fran.

Speaking of Spring practice, it will start later this week, and we're going to cover it, as much as we can, here at RBR. We have some injuries to address, and I'm also going to post a Spring preview for both the offense and defense, specifically looking at each position. Both of those should be up in the next few days.

Later on, we're also going to have a variety of research topics, including more on Pythagorean Wins, and some new work on fumble luck. Plus we'll have more plays broken down, and all of the stats that you saw last year on the old blog.

Stay tuned.
