Cade Foster Commits To Alabama

Cade Foster, a 5'11 and 210 kicking prospect out of Southlake, Texas, has committed to Alabama, according to published reports. Foster becomes the 11th commitment of the 2010 recruiting class.

Early on in the recruiting process, Foster has been one of the most highly recruited kickers of the 2010 class. Alabama, Colorado, and Washington have offered him firm scholarships already, and nearly everyone else has tried to get him to walk-on. Foster converted on 6 of 9 attempts in 2008, including all from under 50 yards. Foster also plays linebacker in high school, but has been recruited by all schools involved as a kicker. Moreover, he comes from Southlake High School, which also turned out Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy.

All in all, it's a pretty nice pick-up for 'Bama. Foster is clearly one of the top kicking prospects in the country, and frankly -- for all of the shortcomings of Leigh Tiffin -- we desperately need a kicker in 2010. I imagine that the staff is planning on having him come in and starting as a kicker from day one. Let's just hope he turns out better than the last three scholarship kickers we have signed...
