A Recruiting Tidbit & An NCAA Thought

There is some pretty big news breaking on the recruiting trails this afternoon. DeMarcus Milliner, the cornerback prospect out of Milbrook, Alabama, will be announcing his collegiate decision Thursday afternoon at 1:00 PM. Milliner is a five-star prospect with both Rivals and Scout.com, and both recruiting services have him as the number one cornerback prospect in the country. Milliner is widely considered the top prep prospect in the state of Alabama, and his head coach is Jeff Foshee, a member of Alabama's 1992 national championship team. It is widely and almost unanimously expected that Milliner will commit to Alabama.

So, that's obviously very good news for the Tide. And, furthermore, it really says a lot (hopefully) about the NCAA situation. We all expect a ruling this week, but I wouldn't think it's going to be tomorrow with FSU's appeal results supposedly being announced then. My guess would say it happens sometime Wednesday through Friday. Anyway, at any rate, hopefully things bode well. At the very least, recruits don't seem to be worried about it, that's for sure. Obviously they are well aware of the NCAA situation, and even so we're still killing on the recruiting trails. We were doing extremely well anyway, and now we should be getting a commitment from an elite prospect almost at the same time that the sanctions will be announced. Hopefully things will go well when we get the final word from the NCAA, but one way or the other, recruits obviously think it's no big deal.

ed- some info and a youtube on young mr. milliner.
